One Simple Way to Screencast with Office Mix

One Simple Way to Screencast with Office Mix | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

A 2-Minute Technology Tip on Screencasting by Vicki Davis (@coolcatteacher). A screencast is when you record the screen. While there are many great options out there, Office Mix is so simple, I’m using it for most screencasting. In this example, students have written a few lines of code in Scratch. Then, they open Office Mix. They use the screen recording tool to capture their program in action. Finally, they make the video and upload it to PowerSchool Learning. This tutorial video shows everything except the uploading process.

I usually use SNAG IT, for which I made a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, but it wasn't that expensive.  I have also used SCREENCAST O COM but that is - in the free version - only for narrating and not recording from your PC.  Obviously, this one needs some trying-out.

Oskar Almazan's curator insight, February 17, 12:45 AM
Augmented reality–a technology that uses a trigger image to superimpose digital content over a user’s view of the real world–is growing in popularity and accessibility, and it holds a wealth of potential for education. Often described as “QR codes on steroids,” the technology offers new and exciting ways for students to interact with lessons, said Jeff Peterson, an instructional technologist in the Lamar Consolidated ISD in Texas. Peterson presented a TCEA 2017 session on augmented reality’s application in classrooms. Augmented reality-based apps infuse more engagement into learning exercises, and students often grasp complex concepts quickly with interactive content, said Peterson, referencing Drew Minock, an advocate for augmented reality in the classroom and outreach manager at augmented reality company Daqri.

Transcend the Classroom with Virtual Place-Based Learning

Transcend the Classroom with Virtual Place-Based Learning | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
Simulation-based learning allows us to play in a highly immersive environment that reflects aspects of the real world. In virtual simulations, we can explore and create with much lower stakes than we would encounter in the real world. Questions of “What if?” flourish in a virtual simulation as we create and experience new possibilities with increasing realism. With smartphones making access to virtual reality easier and easier, virtual simulations can now become part of place-based learning in the classroom.
