Training: Applicaties maken zonder programmeerkennis | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

Logisch nadenken is voldoende.

Virtual and Augmented Reality in Personalized Learning | Getting Smart

Virtual and Augmented Reality in Personalized Learning | Getting Smart | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
By Erik Day - We like to imagine what a VR experiences would look like if both tied to curriculum and tailored to students' competency via machine learning.

Via Grant Montgomery

Oskar Almazan's curator insight, September 22, 8:48 AM
The intersection of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) and personalized learning is a pool into which current technology has only begun to dip its toes, but it is a topic that conjures up fantastic (in the literal, J.K. Rowling sense of the word) possibilities. I’m not just talking about pulling competency-appropriate 3D lessons from a repository of ready-made material, or VR training for the operation of heavy machinery. I like to imagine what a learning experience would look like wherein students have access to VR that is both tied to curriculum and automatically tailored to their competency via machine learning–aspects that are sorely missing in many current educational VR experiences (and which, admittedly, can instill a little apprehension when taken to the extreme).

To Test Your Fake News Judgment, Play This Game

To Test Your Fake News Judgment, Play This Game | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
Fake news has been on Maggie Farley's mind further back than 2016 when President Trump brought the term into the vernacular.

Farley, a veteran journalist, says we've had fake news forever and that "people have always been trying to manipulate information for their own ends," but she calls what we're seeing now "Fake news with a capital F." In other words, extreme in its ambition for financial gain or political power.

"Before, the biggest concern was, 'Are people being confused by opinion; are people being tricked by spin?' " Now, Farley says, the stakes are much higher.

So one day she says an idea came to her: build a game to test users' ability to detect fake news from real.

Voilà, Factitious. Give it a shot. (And take it from us, it's not as easy as you might think!)

Using Smartphones in the Classroom - The TechEdvocate

Using Smartphones in the Classroom - The TechEdvocate | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
Today’s students are hard wired with innate abilities to network using technology. By far, their current ‘technology of choice’ is the mobile phone. According to Cell Phone City Advocacy, “on average, an American receives his/her first cell phone at the age of 12.1 years old, just as he/she is starting middle school. In addition, 73% of teens, roughly 14.3 million, own a smartphone.” A recent study by Young Canadians in a Wired World, reveals that not only do 25% of Grade 4 students have their own mobile phone, but also, more than one-third of teens and pre-teens even sleep with …

Getting Started with Design Thinking in the Classroom

Getting Started with Design Thinking in the Classroom | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
Every day, I ask my kids, “What did you make in school today?” Too often, they can’t give me an answer. But on the days that they do, their eyes light up and they passionately describe their projects. It’s in those moments that I am reminded that making is magic.

I want to see schools transform into bastions of creativity and wonder.

But here’s the thing: this is hard to pull off. We all have curriculum maps and limited resources and standards we have to teach. We don’t always have fancy maker spaces or high-tech gadgetry. Our time is limited and so creativity is often a lofty ideal that rarely becomes a reality.

This is what I love about design thinking. It works within the standards in every subject. It’s a flexible approach that you can use with limited resources. It isn’t something new that you add to your crowded schedule. Instead, it’s an innovative approach to the work you are already doing — a process designed specifically to boost creativity and bring out the maker in every student.
