Once you've used multiple screens, it's hard to go back to using just one. Multiple displays are useful for more than just watching your two favorite sports teams at the same time (though, you can most certainly do that, too). Having two displays can actually increase your productivity a great deal. That's right, if you…

Want to extract an image from a document, but don't know how? Here are solutions for Word, PowerPoint and PDFs. Inserting an image into a document is a piece of cake — but extracting it isn't quite so easy. A cropped screenshot might do the job in a pinch, but you run the risk of…

How to start using Apple TV in the classroom - Daily Genius

How to start using Apple TV in the classroom - Daily Genius | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
The big push for education technology is coming from a handful of sources. There’s the teachers, the administrators, the students, and the technology producers. Technology is not the final solution to improving education, though. Far from it.

Education technology is a powerful tool in a teacher’s toolkit to create effective learning opportunities. It’s just a tool – not the entire toolkit. This seems to be the general consensus now that edtech is becoming more ubiquitous and attainable for many schools in developed countries. Sadly, it’s still far out of reach for many developing countries.

Easthampton High School junior Kevin Van Oudenhove may not be familiar with the term “flipped classroom.” But he knows there’s something different about the honors chemistry class he’s taking this semester.

For homework, Van Oudenhove’s teacher, Shawn Sheehan, asks students to watch videotaped lectures and other lesson materials posted on his website. Class time is devoted to solving equations, conducting lab experiments and working on group research projects.

REVIEW: Learn Coding, 21st Century Fluencies and The Mathematical Process With Robot School | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
In this article I would like to explore a new coding app called Robot School from Next is Great (@nextisgreat). What hooked me immediately was how this app teachings kids to block code, but then shows them the syntax written in Swift. If you are unfamiliar, Swift is a new programming language for iOS. I love the concept of block code and syntax. It’s a perfect next step for avid coders.

30 Innovative Ways to Use Twitter In the Classroom | Edudemic | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it
Do you use Twitter in your classroom as part of your lesson plans? If not, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Although 80% of K-12 teachers do have Twitter accounts for personal or professional use, most of them don’t integrate tweets into classroom lessons. And at first glance, it might be difficult to understand why you would, especially when Twitter is best known for getting updates on the oft mundane activities friends, family and celebrity crushes. But with 288 million active users worldwide, educational experts, like those at the National Education Association, say that Twitter can be a welcome tool for teachers who want to increase information, communication, and collaboration, both inside and outside the classroom.

While I was surfing around the internet the other day, I came across a procedure that allows you to record the screen of your iOS device using QuickTime Player on your Mac.  As someone who could really benefit from this feature for demonstrative purposes, my curiosity was definitely peaked.  Add to that the fact that it is built into every Mac running Yosemite and that it’s completely free, and I knew that some of you, too, would really appreciate knowing how it works.  Here’s a quick tutorial based upon Aaron Douglas’ Blog post on The Dangling Pointer.
