Infographic: Climate Change and Human Responsibility | ICT & more | Scoop.it

It can't be denied any longer: Sea levels are rising, major droughts are continuing, and record hot summers are being experienced al around the world. A recent study conducted by Yale University and George Mason University finds that for the first time since the research began in 2008, the majority of Americans believe that global warming is mostly a man-made phenomenon. And as sobering images of catastrophes make headlines, people are recognizing that the effects of their actions are not just an increasing danger to the world but a direct threat to themselves and their families.

Google introduces mobile payments service to the web :: Google introduces mobile payments service to the web - PaymentEye

Google introduces mobile payments service to the web :: Google introduces mobile payments service to the web - PaymentEye | ICT & more | Scoop.it

Google has rolled out its payment service to the mobile web in an attempt to boost uptake. Users of its mobile wallet will now be able to buy goods while browsing the internet on their smartphones and tablet devices, reports Strategyeye.

Bringing it into more direct competition with online payments provider PayPal, the signs are that Google is redesigning its Google Wallet service as a broader online payment solution that lets users pay for goods across mobile, web and in-store with a single account.

While many consumers still remain reticent when it comes to making in-store transactions on their phones, there is a growing trend towards spending money and buying goods whilst browsing the internet on smartphones and tablets. Indeed, according to research by integrated network providers Juniper, more and more consumers are using smartphones and devices to purchase online with the number of global mobile shoppers set to reach 580million by the end of 2014, up from 393million this year.

Consumers can now sign-up to use Google’s service by storing their credit card details in a Google Wallet online account and then pay for goods on Google’s app store, as well as web sites that have integrated the ‘Buy With Google’ button.

[기고] 미래의 은행은 어떤 모습일까?

[기고] 미래의 은행은 어떤 모습일까? | ICT & more | Scoop.it

Loyalty programs must go mobile | iammobileapps

Loyalty programs must go mobile | iammobileapps | ICT & more | Scoop.it

The challenge for marketers, however, centers on capturing data across channels. A May 2012 report, Omnichannel Loyalty: Designing The Ultimate Customer Experience, looks at the need for loyalty marketers to act on insights to deliver dynamic offers in real-time through behavioral triggers across channel, including mobile. Forrester Research recently stated that, in 2011, 21 percent of survey respondents agreed with the following statement: Most loyalty programs dont offer any real value. This was up from 15 percent in 2008, a jump of over one-third. What is more, Forrester says that an era of pervasive interactivity has arrived and that 60 percent of Gen Yers (23-31) and Gen Zers (18-22) are considered always-addressable customers (AAC). Mobile can and should be the answer for the AAC. Still skeptical? Try this: of the 89 percent of tablet owners who use their devices at home and 79 percent use them in their bedrooms. If this is the type of device intimacy we are moving toward, then it stands to reason that loyalty should be inexorably linked.

Sustainable Technology: Our phones are depleting natural resources [INFOGRAPHIC]

Sustainable Technology: Our phones are depleting natural resources [INFOGRAPHIC] | ICT & more | Scoop.it
This infographic takes a look at this troubling technology trend, which is depleting the planet's supply of Rare Earth Elements.

Apple sold a record 5 million iPhones the first weekend the phone was on the market. And unlike in the iPhone’s early days, the latest Apple smartphones are not primarily being purchased by first time owners.

But did you ever stop to think about what happens to all those iPhone 3, 3GS, 4 and 4Ss now deemed out of date? While there are many recycling programs available, most smartphones are not efficiently thrown out.

Apple’s iPhones is far from the only culprit — most every smartphone, hard drive, hybrid car, satellite, MRI machine and GPS, along with dozens of other tech gadgets, are made from Rare Earth Elements.

This infographic takes a look at this troubling technology trend, which is depleting the planet’s supply of rare earth elements...
