Hoever kun je die keizer met z'n nieuwe kleren eigenlijk uitkleden?
Wat is het Zeeman-effect?
Bestaat er een Zeeman-effect? Ja, Zeeman is met een hoofdletter geschreven. Kennelijk wordt met Zeeman niet bedoeld: een zeebonk.
Zomaar een eenvoudige vraag waar geen eenvoudig antwoord op te vinden is. Gelukkig is daar de iPad of andere tablet: we zoeken het even op. Vluchtig lezen, snel weer vergeten .... Waarom? Omdat het we deze informatie niet verder verwerken. We pakken er geen pen en papier bij. We gaan de informatie niet verwerken. Dat is natuurlijk ook niet nodig, want we kunnen immers typen op onze iPad. Schrijven -"krulletters"- is een volkomen overbodig kunstje. Waarom hebben we het eigenlijk ooit geleerd, zou je je bijna gaan afvragen.
Verontrustend is dat er wederom wordt gesproken over - de docent in de rol van coach, - de leerlingen mogen grotendeels zelf bepalen wat ze willen leren én wanneer. En vrijwel de gehele Tweede Kamer staat om dit onzalige plan te juichen.
Om met die leraar te beginnen: Hij / Zij is geen coach én hij / zij speelt geen rol. Je bent leraar én je hebt jouw leerlingen iets te melden. Het leraarschap is een ingewikkeld ambacht dat niet verward mag worden met "de rol van coach". Al wil ik niet beweren dat "coachen" niet een kunst op zich is.
In het klaslokaal is een leraar (m/v) nodig met een plan. Kinderen weten niet uit zichzelf wat ze moeten leren én vooral niet waarom. Voorbeeld. Jong volwassenen in de bovenbouw van de Havo / vwo weten dat ook niet. Je zou het rotter kunnen formuleren door te zeggen "ze weten het nog steeds niet". Waarom ik dat beweer? Omdat in het curriculum van de havo / vwo een zogenaamd EXO -Eigen Experimenteel Onderzoek- zit voor het vak natuurkunde. De leerling(en) moeten dan zelf een probleem kiezen én een bijhorende proef. Maar die leerlingen hebben geen probleem: ze weten immers alles al. Wat valt er nog meer te leren? Als je niet weet wat er allemaal aan kennis bestaat, heb je werkelijk geen idee wat je allemaal -zinvol- kunt onderzoeken. Kinderen kunnen niet zelf bepalen wat ze willen leren: dat moet ze in porties aangeboden worden. Daar is een leraar voor. En niet die "coach die in een hoekje in het lokaal zit". En het zelf ook niet zo goed weet ......
Een leraar is iemand met een plan, met kennis van zaken over de lesstof én hoe die lesstof overgebracht moet worden. Dat is nog een hele kunst. Aan die leraar (m/v) worden nog véél meer eisen gesteld dan die paar die ik net noemde.
Wederom pleit ik ervoor om het onderwijs zelf ter hand te nemen als leraar. We mogen ons niet aan de kant laten schuiven door deskundologen, juichende kamerleden en bovenal niet door Maurice de Hond.
De volgende eenvoudige vraag luidt dus: "Waarom loopt nog steeds iedereen achter dàt orakel aan?"
Oh ja, Ik denk dat je met schrijven niet enkel je fijne motoriek traint, maar ook deze kennis opslaat in het geheugen. Ik ben niet tegen het gebruik van tablets, maar ik ben wel vooral vóór goed en behoorlijk onderwijs. Dus leraren (m/v): wees trots op uw beroep en voer dat met verve uit. Ik zou het wel van de daken willen schreeuwen!

Het werd me afgelopen week ook weer gevraagd: welke apps zijn er nu voor Frans? Welke voor Wiskunde? Natuurlijk zijn er prima apps voor vakken, maar vaak zal je toch je heil moeten zoeken in apps waarmee je content kunt creëren of liever nog: laten creëren. Hoe actiever de leerling, hoe meer de kans bestaat dat hij leert. ( Westhoff: Het geheim van de Flipperkast)

Met een knipoog: ik heb een iPad en ik gebruik 'm in de klas, daarmee ben ik een effectieve 21ste eeuw onderwijsprofessional. En zo zijn er nog negen 'waarheden'.

I think it's more about how we can utilise technology in the classroom. It's good to see that some teachers go looking for this lind of stuff. Others will come along after it has been proven. Some won't come along unless pushed.
