Data Analytics Improving Health Care

Data Analytics Improving Health Care | ICT interventions in the areas of Healthcare, Livelihood and Disabilities | Scoop.it

Data analytics may be the key to improving operating efficiency, contain costs, and ensure quality care. The adoption of business intelligence and data analytics has been commonly accepted by CIO’s in a variety of industries, but the healthcare industry is still far behind in the acceptance of data analytics. Hospitals generally lack the appropriate resources needed to help turn clinical data into insight. The use of advanced data analytics in US hospitals was only at a 10 per cent adoption rate in 2011.

Visiting Google research chief Dr Alon Halevy may have come to Melbourne for the coffee, but all those who came to see him speak last Monday at the joint seminar hosted by the School of CSIT with NICTA (National ICT Australia) were grateful he found time to pop by RMIT University and expound on Recent Advances on Structured Data and the Web.

The talk was so popular registrations had been closed by NICTA when the full house of 300 had been reached, but if you were one of the unlucky ones who missed out his slides and a video of the talk are now available for you to see online.

Students with disabilities have better chances of gaining and sustaining employment if they are linked into a Disability Employment Service. Students and teachers should discuss this with the Teacher Consultant or Disability teacher for more information about finding out about a service that suits them.
