I'll stick with Scoop.it, still here is a roundup of systems for curation.

Guy Garey's curator insight, March 13, 2013 10:29 PM

This item details some of the sites and means by which the massive amount of news can be filtered. Yes, Scoop.it is there, but so are lots of other ways and means that yield similar results. Any of a number of these plans are things that I would find useful. Maybe a content curation scheme is needed for curation schemes?

Curation At Work: The David Rumsey Historical Map Collection

Curation At Work: The David Rumsey Historical Map Collection | The business value of technology | Scoop.it

The David Ramsey Map Collection is an historical collection of thousands of beautiful maps and atlases organized and made freely accessible to the public online in unique and unprecedented ways.

This is a stunning example of a visual curated collection, offering thousands of beautiful images at very high quality, and multiple ways and tools to navigate this ocean of maps.

This online collection offers in fact no less than 12 different ways to navigate its contents by providing dedicated browsers and visual imaging tools ranging from 2D-GIS to SecondLife and virtual QTR panoramas. For example, with the Google Earth visualization, any map in the collection can be seen perfectly mapped on the globe, or by using the Luna Browser one can create collections, save and download images, annotate maps or even create embeddable presentations.

All of the images in the collection have been published online at full resolution and are available to download at different quality levels under a Creative Commons License for non-commercial uses.

This is truly a spectacular collection with marvellous maps and atlases enriched by complementary data, visualization tools and a formidable array of navigation devices.

Possibly the best online curated collection I have seen so far.

Must-see. 10/10

The Semantic Web Curates the World Data by Surfacing Context, Relationships, and Personalized Meaning

The Semantic Web Curates the World Data by Surfacing Context, Relationships, and Personalized Meaning | The business value of technology | Scoop.it

Robin Good: The semantic web is all about integrating, capturing and exposing data relationships already existing within the information we generate.

From isolated, separate individual information items and streams, the semantic web will take me and you to a new information ecosystem in which the relationships, the connections and the ability to look at data from multiple perspectives are going to be the the main benefit and attraction.

Curation is part of this "semantic" process, giving individuals an important role in filtering, organizing, and making sense of the context and relationships existing between apparently unrelated isolated items.

We are all working to make better sense of the ocean of information that surrounds us.

Grace Nasri brings to light a few examples of internet companies, who have already begun "mapping and graphing the way their customers use, interact with and understand data."

-> Google Knowledge Graph

-> Facebook Social Graph

-> FindtheBest

-> Hunch

"As we move towards Web 3.0 and the Semantic Web -- characterized by related, contextualized and personalized data -- there's a growing push for more robust context and relationship mapping."

".... a growing number of sites currently creating graphs that relate, connect and map information on the Web; as we move towards a more semantic web, this trend will only continue."

Insightful. Resourceful. 7/10
