Les épidémies urbaines résultant de maladies virales, comme la fièvre du Nil occidental ou le chikungunya sont propagées par des moustiques infectés.

 

Des scientifiques viennent de découvrir que les moustiques dont le cycle de développement se fait par des températures plus fraîches ont un système immunitaire plus faible, ce qui les rend plus sensibles aux virus dangereux et donc plus susceptibles de les transmettre à l'homme.

 

Cette corrélation entre la température et le système immunitaire du moustique est importante en regard des conséquences du changement climatique.
