RealtimeBoard

RealtimeBoard | 21st Century Librarian | Scoop.it

This is an amazing collaborative whiteboard where multiple users can edit a multimedia board in real time. The site allows you to signup and sign in using a Google account and you can access and add your files and media on your Google Docs/Drive area making this a fabulous companion to schools using Google Apps for education. You can write by typing or you can write in 'freehand' so you can use your interactive whiteboard to write and archive the lesson to use or refer to later.

many creative options to explore....

Coach Jeffery's curator insight, January 9, 2013 9:38 AM

ReadWriteThink provides templates for a variety of writing projects that incorporate a cube. The Bio Cube may be used after students have read, or before they write, a biography (or autobiography). The Mystery Cube will help them recall a mystery story after they have read it, or to pre-write one on their own. There is also a story Cube that will help them map out "key elements of a story" and there is Create-Your-Own Cube...you select the questions to a topic and then respons.

Alison Hewett's curator insight, January 30, 2013 1:17 PM

LITERACY. This would be an interesting tool to explore to see if it is useful at our upper year levels.

Common Core Thrusts Librarians Into Leadership Role

Common Core Thrusts Librarians Into Leadership Role | 21st Century Librarian | Scoop.it
Already equipped with inquiry-based skills, librarians are helping teachers acquire the instructional methods they need to adopt.

With the common standards on her doorstep, Ms. Hearne has a lot to do. Her library at Wren Middle School in Piedmont, S.C., is a nerve center in her school's work to arm both teachers and students for a focus on new kinds of study. She's working to build not only students' skills in writing, reading, research, and analysis, but also teachers' skills in teaching them. She and other librarians say they view the common core, with its emphasis on explanation, complex text, and cross-disciplinary synthesis, as an unprecedented opportunity for them to really strut their stuff.
