"After having become familiar with various apps, I’ve decided that it is time to put my bulky laptop aside and use the iPad almost exclusively in my history lessons. I have resolved not to go out of my way to accommodate the iPad, but to teach in a way that I would normally. If I am to discover new ways of doing things in lessons along the way, so be it."

Using iPads in the classroom allow students to be hands on and use different things that they are familiar with, rather than carrying around a bulky text book.

"Every time a kid comes home from school a parent asks the same question - 'What did you learn today?' - and the standard answer is usually 'Nothing.' "

The digital revolution hasn’t changed that, says Alberta educator, innovator and motivational speaker George Couros - but the social media tools our children take for granted could help parents get more than the usual one-word answer.

George will be discussing digital leadership, technology in the classroom, and how being a Parent 2.0 affects how you communicate with your children, at three lectures in 2013's Online Safety Week Keynote Speaker Series.

Most students find history very boring, so using technology in the classroom can help engage students and allow them to have active participation. Also these new technologies can allow students to ask questions and get answers based on their own findings.
Jarrod Dodds's curator insight, April 13, 9:27 AM
