Geeta Basra - Bollywood Closet

Geeta Basra - Bollywood Closet | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it

Don’t pull out Geeta Basra to stand out on your wedding

Got your wedding coming up? Want to make it memorable? Then the best advice we can give is, don’t pull out Geeta Basra. You see, there’s no denying Geeta Basra that looked hot on all her wedding occasions, but she failed to throw in a noticeable variation of outfits – something that would’ve made her look even hotter. So aside from a traditional lehenga, think about Banarasi/Kanjivaram saree, indo-western gown or heavy anarkali. You can even experiment with different styles of lehengas – kurti style, achkan style, lehenga with crop top and palazzo, etc. As you can see, looking different is what makes you stand out and garner all the attention.

Choosing the Right Party Wear Dress

Choosing the Right Party Wear Dress | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it
Your best friend is getting married and you know that there will be plenty of rituals and celebrations, which will lead to the actual wedding day. Being the best friend, you realise that you will have to be a part of each festivity and will have to wear a different party wear dress, for each occasion. Because you might be the cynosure of several eyes, you know that you will have to look good, at each occasion and stand out in each of the photographs being clicked. Standing out in the crowd means that you need to plan out each look of yours with care and precision. Your first step of action should be determining how many functions there will be and then finalising on a total number of attires you will need. Most Indian weddings will start with a mehndi, for which you will need a dress that is hassle free and anarkali suits are a great option for you. Not only will the dress make you look tall and slim, it is also easy to move around in. You can choose a dress with a shorter sleeve, which will allow you to get as much mehndi on your hands, as you like. In addition, there are plenty of designs these days, which do not require a dupatta, allowing you greater accessibility. Look for a design that has a mandarin or Chinese collar or one that has extensive work along the neckline. The sangeet is an occasion where you can not only show off your dance moves, but also your curves! This is why, several young girls are now choosing to opt for a Bollywood lehenga, which could have been inspired by their favourite celebrity or is an exact replica of something someone might have worn in a movie. However, this would be an ideal choice only for people who have a good body. Others might want to stick to something a little more conservative and an attire that hides their physical flaws might prove to be a better option. For the actual wedding day, you could always opt for a custom lehenga, but make sure that you do not steal the thunder from the bride. Make sure that you choose a colour that is different than what the bride has chosen and keep it understated with the fabric and design. However, you can add plenty of accessories to make sure that you look dazzling! As for the bidai, you could always fall back on the good old anarkali dress, because there might be much running around to do, which should be easier in this attire. Whichever outfits you are picking out, make sure that you pick different colours and fabrics, because then there is no chance of an outfit looking repetitive.

How To Choose The Perfect Panjabi Suits

How To Choose The Perfect Panjabi Suits | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it
When you have a festival or traditional event to attend, you know that you will need traditional attire too and for many ladies, this is where there biggest confusion starts. If you are considering Panjabi suits, your task at hand could become easier, provided you keep a few pointers in mind.

Start with colours that look good against your skin tone, because if you choose a colour that is too dull or too bright, you could end up looking only half as good as you possibly could. If you are fair, then you can opt for darker colours, but if you are on the darker side, pastel shades would work really well.

Understand your body shape, because this will allow you to pick out a dress that will work well for you. If you are heavier on the top, look for dresses that have lesser work on the top, because it will draw the attention away.

Half the charm of most Patiala suits is the dupatta, and if you want to make a statement, ensure that you pick a suit with an intricately designed dupatta. However, this too is something that you need to pick with care – if the dress has a lot of embroidery work, pick a dupatta that is simple. A popular choice is plain suits in solid colours with a dupatta that has a lot of work on it. This kind of look works great for day time events and occasions that might be held outdoors during the day. In case the event is at night, you could consider the more embellished look.   see more >> http://bit.ly/KRwR7e

The New Wedding Lehenga Trends That You Need To Know About

The New Wedding Lehenga Trends That You Need To Know About | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it
When you are getting married, there are so many things going through your mind, but how you will look on the D-day and on all the days before and after, is what clogs your mind the most. You know that you want to look stunning each day, but you also want to do a one better, each day, which means that you need to go beyond the traditional saree or ghagra choli and find something truly spectacular. Before you dive headfirst into the world of bridal fashion, there are some things that you should be aware of and keep in mind while shopping. What you need to know the most is what the new wedding lehenga trends really are. This will allow you to shop smart or even design your own outfit, in the best manner possible. You need to know whether it is gota that is in trend or mirrors and sequins! Gone are the days, when the choli had to be a length, where it just covered the torso or it had to be really small, and showed off the tiny waist of the bride. These days, there are new designs that are surfacing and most of these are being welcomed with open arms. For instance, there is the trail lehenga, wherein the bottom part is almost like a veil or a gown that a traditional Christian bride would wear. The trail can be as long or as short as the bride likes, although longer trails are suitable for taller brides and this is something that can be custom made to order. The bridal lehenga choli has come a long way, because now the traditional is being shown the door. These days, you can combine an anarkali with a lehenga – the top will look like an anarkali and can be sheer or solid, and the length often stops a few inches from the floor. No longer does the bride feel that showing skin is important, which is why several of them are opting for the jacket lehenga. A long or short jacket will take over the traditional choli or go on top of the choli. The jacket can be of any length and any material and it can even be in a colour that is completely in contrast with the lehenga. Similarly, the sleeves have also gone longer, although most brides are choosing sheer fabric for the same. In case you are planning on being a winter bride, then a bandhgala top would also be a good idea and you can get it made in a thicker material, which will offer you plenty of protection from the cold. Talk to any designer and chances are that they will tell you more about the ombre trend – ombre is a manner in which one colour blends into a different shade of the same colour and the same happens very gradually. This is a big trend in the bridal fashion world now, and most brides are choosing for shades of pink, red and blue for their wedding day lehenga.

How Indian Wedding Planning Has Changed

How Indian Wedding Planning Has Changed | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it
There was once a time, when the Indian wedding planning process started with where the wedding would be held and how many people had to be invited. Today, the process has changed, because most of the attention is paid to the attires that everyone will be wearing. The bride and bridegroom are still at the heart of all the preparations, but they too are choosing to spend more time with their dress designers, as opposed to the one who will be in charge of decorations and catering. The bride is constantly on the lookout for that one exclusive saree that she could wear either for her engagement or wedding reception. Most brides to be are looking for sarees which they will be able to reuse at some point in time and many even opt to have them cut up to create dresses, such as salwar kameez or lehenga choli. Then there are also those who are opting to look through the ever popular Bollywood lehenga collection, because they want to emulate their favourite Bollywood diva. However, in this case, there are certain factors that need to be kept in mind – the physical shape of the bride and the budget that needs to be adhered to. And while the Bollywood style lehenga might sound glamourous for the wedding, it is important to keep in mind, that it might not get reused, ever again. Even the prospective bridegrooms are not far behind, when it comes to locating their wedding dress and whether they are looking for a traditional sherwani or the more modern suit, they too are choosing to take their time, picking out the perfect option. Men too are now considering factors such as colours that will compliment their skin tone, cuts that will make them look taller and slimmer and most importantly, will be of use again.

Rustic Phulkari Embroidered Dress | I don't do fashion, I am fashion | Scoop.it
Phulkari was once a symbol of mother-daughter love and it was a pivotal part of a daughter’s wedding trousseau. Though phulkari has lost its traditional significance today but the art has evolved in more ways than ever in the recent years. Traditional patterns (like geometric motif) are being carried forward and evolved to not just make stoles and shawls but also kurtis, suits and accessories. Traditionally phulkaris were primarily made in bright colors like red and maroon but today even the pastel shades are creating waves. You could wear a phulkari dupatta with a minimalist kurti and you don’t need anything else to amp up your style quotient – Phulkari looks that beautiful. So when do you plan to buy one?
