When melanoma cells produce more melanin pigment, this triggers mitochondria to produce more damaging reactive oxygen species. This is a very unpleasant circumstance as this leads to cancer progression.

Are the media to be blamed for driving the craze of being white? From time to time, you will see Photoshopped version of black celebrities such as Beyonce, Halle Berry, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj which appear to be fairer, popping on social media. Some criticized other stars for "being bleached with cosmetics that are more expensive". Certainly, these high cost cosmetics are safer than those found on the street corners.
