10 Words Never To Use On A Resume

10 Words Never To Use On A Resume | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

here are certain resume words and phrases that have become so ubiquitous they do little more than induce yawns and eye rolls from hiring managers. Employers are so accustomed to hearing from "team players" and "problem solvers," for example, that those descriptions are now essentially meaningless. To distinguish yourself from your competitors, you'll need to cut the clichés - or at least expand upon them with concrete details that back up your claims.

Robert Half recently asked more than 1,300 managers at companies across the United States and Canada to name the most overused resume phrases.

Fourteen Interview Questions to Help You Hire Your Next Innovator

Fourteen Interview Questions to Help You Hire Your Next Innovator | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

Innovation often comes from having an eclectic approach. It’s less about expertise and more about minds that can think through details while focusing on the bigger picture. It’s about having an aptitude for both the qualitative and the quantitative. It’s also about the ability to mesh a wild idea with reality, and the fortitude to bring it to market.

The potential for innovation in your company increases when you have employees who demonstrate unrestrained thinking and the ability to connect seemingly disparate ideas. Is it possible to identify the people with these capabilities during a first interview? Absolutely—if you know what you look for and if you’re armed with the right questions.

#rrhh 5 #aplicaciones para gestionar proyectos que aumentarán tu #productividad | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it
1. Wunderlist

2. Remenber the milk

Artists have unique brain structure

Artists have unique brain structure | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

Artists have structurally different brains compared with non-artists, a study has found.

Participants' brain scans revealed that artists had increased neural matter in areas relating to fine motor movements and visual imagery.

The research, published in NeuroImage, suggests that an artist's talent could be innate.

But training and environmental upbringing also play crucial roles in their ability, the authors report.

As in many areas of science, the exact interplay of nature and nurture remains unclear.

Lead author Rebecca Chamberlain from KU Leuven, Belgium, said she was interested in finding out how artists saw the world differently.

...

No 'right' side

Ellen Winner of Boston College, US, who was not involved with the study, commented that it was very interesting research.

She said it should help "put to rest the facile claims that artists use 'the right side of their brain' given that increased grey and white matter were found in the art group in both left and right structures of the brain".

"Only a prospective study could get at the question of innate structural brain differences that predispose people to become visual artists, and this kind of study has not been done as it would be very difficult and very expensive to carry out."

The blended classroom is beginning to happen in many school districts. This infographic provides a great overview of blended learning. In addition to the section shown above, which looks at how teacher-led instruction connects to quality digital learning time to group work and projects (and the ongoing cycle) you will find sections on:

* Turning Computer Time into Quality Learning Time

* Empowering Teachers with Real-Time Student Performance Information

* Tying It All Together

Online learning happens in a variety of ways. This post looks at some of the critical features that must be included for an online or blended class to be successful.

Cómo será nuestra vida digital en 2025 | Comunicación Cultural

Cómo será nuestra vida digital en 2025 | Comunicación Cultural | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

Del conocimiento 1.0 al conocimiento 3.0 | vía @maricarmenmar | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

The Future Without Grades

The Future Without Grades | Help and Support everybody around the world | Scoop.it

Imagine it’s report card day. Your child (who, for the purposes of this thought experiment, is in grade five) fishes a crumpled piece of paper out of her knapsack. But instead of containing letter grades, the paper she hands you is a chronicle of her progress on goals she set herself in consultation with her teacher.

A QR code draws your attention to one goal in particular: at the beginning of the school year she pledged to improve her leadership skills by getting more involved in her school’s community. You pull out your iPhone and scan the code. A video pops up showing your daughter reading the morning announcements over the school’s PA.

FOR SOME, TODAY'S REALITY

This isn’t merely a fictionalized scenario. Pat Horstead, an assistant superintendent in Surrey, B.C. described the example to me when I spoke to her this week while writing an article for the Globe and Mail about schools doing away with letter grades and numerical marking.

“Having those samples of student work − video, audio of students reading aloud, different versions of writing that show progress − really helps parents know how to be involved in their child’s education,” she told me. Parents I spoke to, like Krista Wolfram, agreed.

For the past two years, I’ve been investigating innovative schools for my forthcoming book The Flexible Brain. When I asked about report cards, I heard about schools all over the world that are moving away from high stakes traditional assessment that ranks and sorts students towards more fluid, personalized approaches that allow children to learn at their own pace. These innovations are in part a response to a growing belief among educators that while letter grades and numerical numbers may describe how well a student can regurgitate knowledge, they don’t capture the competencies and characteristics that students need to succeed in work and lead fulfilling lives. Moreover, getting rid of traditional letter grades has been shown to improve academic achievement.
