Vimal Rai's insight:

Love the video! Too often we get caught up in the hype and forget about the fundamentals. In this case, valuations didn't fundamentally change what they had been doing, or would be doing. So the key is to be focused on the mission and values over the longer term, and the "valuation" will sort itself out. Great, down-to-earth advice.

You Should Plan On Switching Jobs Every Three Years For The Rest Of Your Life

The stigma of being a flaky job-hopper is quickly becoming a thing of the past, and that's a good thing.
Vimal Rai's insight:

The idea is unsettling, particularly for Gen X-ers and older. But perhaps there is some merit? I wonder though if this is for everyone; clearly if you're an over-achiever, fast learner and very focused on delivering value quickly, this is great advice. But if you're not that sort and if you generally take your time to get up to full speed, or are just not that savvy with change and challenge, what should you do? Comments welcome.

What Happens To A Workplace When All The Salaries Are Public?

What Happens To A Workplace When All The Salaries Are Public? | Human Resources and Organizational Development | Scoop.it
Getting lucky in a salary negotiation has little to do with being good at your job.
Vimal Rai's insight:

Hmm. I don't know. It sounds positive, but then I get to thinking - is starting up/hiring someone/joining a company, the same as working there over time? In other words, is sustained performance under consideration in this case? Meaning, do all these people who now know each other's salaries and behave with an innate sense of fairness, also go on to perform *equally* well? Does everyone work equally hard, innovate equally well, take equal initiative...catch my drift? So the immediate advantages may be there but I'm not convinced about the longer-term effectiveness of this strategy.
