If you haven’t seen any resources from the Human Imprint, this is a great source of teacher-produced AP Human Geography as well as other social studies.  This new project, the Illustrated Textbook, was created to be a “one-stop-shop for human geography fundamentals” using a fun, graphic style interlaced with content-heavy text.  I’m very excited to see this online textbook continue to unfold. This is definitely on the shortlist of best materials on this site.

I'm very excited to see a free eText in Human Geography.  I will be looking at this more closely during the next semester and think that geography teachers will see this as a welcome supplemental to their arsenal of resources. This is definitely on the shortlist of best materials on this site.

This set of 19 short essays (around 3-4 pages each) is a great supplemental text.  I am eager to read them and other resources in the ESRI library.

The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction to Human Geography

The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction to Human Geography | AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY DIGITAL STUDY: MIKE BUSARELLO | Scoop.it

Lately there has been a lot of chatter online about searching for "chapter study guides."  While this is not the most recent edition of the text, it is a publicly accessible online companion site (hence, no need to have purchased the text to access this). This has numerous "study guide-like" features (reviewing concepts, critical thinking, short essays, etc.) that could be a beneficial for teachers to find resources as well as to give to students for them to use as supplemental materials.

Coast Lines

Coast Lines | AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY DIGITAL STUDY: MIKE BUSARELLO | Scoop.it
In the next century, sea levels are predicted to rise at unprecedented rates, causing flooding around the world, from the islands of Malaysia and the canals of Venice to the coasts of Florida and California. These rising water levels pose serious challenges to all aspects of coastal existence—chiefly economic, residential, and environmental—as well as to the cartographic definition and mapping of coasts. It is this facet of coastal life that Mark Monmonier tackles in Coast Lines. Setting sail on a journey across shifting landscapes, cartographic technology, and climate change, Monmonier reveals that coastlines are as much a set of ideas, assumptions, and societal beliefs as they are solid black lines on maps.

"This wiki exists to cultivate the disciplinary literacy of AP Human Geography Students at GPHS..."

A fun course webpage, with chapter/unit overviews, links, video clips, charts, etc.   What makes this one distinct is that it was collaboratively created by the students working on the unit summaries.  Nice job GPHS APHG students of 2008!

Need a FREE online textbook about Geospatial information and data for a college course?  This Penn State-produced books works well for undergraduates that are not necessarily geography majors, but getting acquainted with all types of geospatial technologies (GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS, etc.).   As an open-source book it is a tremendous resource.

Study Guides for "The Cultural Landscape" | AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY DIGITAL STUDY: MIKE BUSARELLO | Scoop.it

If you need reading guides/study guides for the Rubenstein textbook, the AP Human Geography link has good content.  This page also has good resources for other history/social studies classes (European History, Government, World History, US History, Economics).   This is all the work of Jim Nelsen, teacher extraordinaire from Milwaukee, WI.
