Why hit the pavement day after day in your business? How about in place of working HARD (ie. 12 hour days, mile long to do lists, and 5 email accounts) you worked SMART?

Via The Fish Firm II
Two Pens's insight:

Breaking a presentation into 20-minute chunks is a smart tip to keep an audience's attention. When I teach "How to Rock a Presentation," I do a lot of work with business people on improving how they deliver what they want to say (Dr. Weinschenk calls this "paralinguistics"). Passion goes a long way when presenting.

The Mighty Nudge: The Future of SEO, Social Media, & Content Marketing

The days of bludgeoning algorithms, networks, and people are over. Modern marketing success in channels like search, social media, content marketing, email, CRO
Two Pens's insight:

Love the art direction of SEO Moz Rand Fishkin's presentation on  behavioral psychographics. I saw him present at the Microsoft SEO summit 3/6 and his presentation was by far the best presentation in 3 days of presentations. Graphics were terrific, as you can see here, and Rand is a fabulous no-notes presenter with a ton of passion. This presentation doesn't include the context for the examples (too bad!) but well worth emulating for its edgy and dynamic look. Designed by Blue Moon Design in little old Poulsbo, WA. Nice!

Public Speaking Tip 8: Start By Telling Yourself the Truth | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it
It isn’t always possible to tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” at work. But if you start by being honest with yourself, it’s easier to find a compromise you can live with.

I can't imagine standing up and speaking about something I don't believe in. A good way to die every minute your mouth is open. This article addresses the problem for corporate folks who have to toe the company line while possibly thinking something else.

Is Your Social Media Marketing Social Or Just Marketing? | Marketing Mentoring By Doug Champigny

Is Your Social Media Marketing Social Or Just Marketing? | Marketing Mentoring By Doug Champigny | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it
Social Media Marketing is a hot topic these days, yet most online marketers and especially offline companies and retailers have difficulty gaining any traction from their social media marketing activities.

OK, confession time. The content of this article is good: it argues for using social media as an engagement medium, not a one-way marketing machine. All good. However, the photo of Doug Champigny, "The Success Lifestylist" (!???) makes me wonder if he was embalmed. Why Doug puts this photo of himself on his site needs someone braver than me to explore.

Twitter thrashes Facebook in Super Bowl battle of the social networks - Telegraph | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it

My take is that Twitter is a better delivery mechanism for instantaneous news. It's broader global focus makes it more effective in newsgathering than Facebook which is locally focused (makes sense that more of your friends are typically in the area).
