A Scientific Guide to Hashtags: How Many, Which Ones, and Where to Use Them | Social Media Today

A Scientific Guide to Hashtags: How Many, Which Ones, and Where to Use Them | Social Media Today | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it

Internet language has evolved considerably over the past few years as social media has taken off. Hashtags are a huge part of this evolution. What once was a telephone button is now a social media phenomenon.  No wonder people are curious.

When they ask, I tell them that hashtags are a pound sign immediately followed by a keyword. They're used for categorization on social media. Yes, they can be annoying if overused. And yes, I've seen the hashtag video of Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.

Hashtags also have the potential to be truly valuable. The stats and info below make a pretty clear case that we should be understanding, using, and appreciating hashtags....

Twitter: Should I use a company or personal account in B2B? - exploreB2B

Well, Peter, you ask a great question.
Here is my response: it depends on what you are trying to achieve and with whom you are aiming to connect and target.Option 1: your brand is you
From ...
Two Pens's insight:

It is possible to have a company + you account that is linked to your own personal account. From the business's perspective, I think it is better to have a person tweeting as one of the voices of the business. That way you get a real person who tweets about their personal interests, while in service to the business. If they want to tweet about Beyonce' or Fifty Cent, hey, that goes on their personal account.

6 Myths of Social Sharing (infographic)

6 Myths of Social Sharing (infographic) | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it

Social sharing buttons on websites account for less than 30 percent of all sharing, and links shared on Thursday get peak engagement and the longest-lasting traffic.

Those are only two of the results of a RadiumOne study focusing on sharing behavior. RadiumOne is an enterprise advertising platform that operates the Po.st social sharing and URL-shortening platform — which naturally generates a lot of data on what people share, how they share, and what kind of sharing is the most effective.

One Of My Worst Moments As A Speaker | Mr. Media Training

One Of My Worst Moments As A Speaker | Mr. Media Training | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it

As a presentation trainer, audiences expect me to be a darn good public speaker.

So I’m guessing that one audience had high hopes for me a couple of years ago when I was invited to speak at an industry conference.

Everything was going well until an audience member challenged one of my points. Instead of taking my own good advice by answering his question and moving on, I began to debate him. The moment I did, I lost control of my own presentation. And in so doing, I elevated the audience member to the role of co-speaker....

Via Jeff Domansky
Two Pens's insight:

Answer the question and move on. Otherwise the speaker turns the podium over to a heckler and it bugs the other people in the room.

Google and Ogilvy research finds word of mouth had biggest impact on purchase decisions (not media) | Campaign@Cannes

Google and Ogilvy research finds word of mouth had biggest impact on purchase decisions (not media) | Campaign@Cannes | How to Rock a Presentation | Scoop.it

Consumers are more influenced by word of mouth in buying decisions than by print media, TV and movies, brand websites and even social media. The six-month survey of 2,458 recent purchasers of auto vehicles, beauty products and smartphones found that word of mouth topped the influence list.

Top ten points of influence:

Word of mouth (74%)Retailers and store visits (69%)You Tube – how-to videos, product visualisation, entertainment (64%)Twitter (61%)Company/brand websites (59%)Facebook (56%)Pinterest (56%)Newspapers and magazines (55%)TV and movies (51%)Search (51%).

The study – revealed at the Google Beach Pavilion in Cannes – notes that consumers now make purchasing decisions in the same way they consume content – with the purpose of choosing brands that engage their passion and interests....
