Those

Art Jones's insight:

The companies that manage Big Data best will be the companies that achieve optimum opportunity to positively impact cost of doing business and profit.

This article talks about how vehicles and the packages within those vehicles will be tagged and constantly sending GPS info to command central. In the near future, all moving parts (engine, drive train, brakes) and the entire electrical system will be online thanks to implementation of The Internet of Everything #IOE.

The marriage of thoroughly connected devices passing data over to other devices and command central is beginning to change everything. Next to arrive on the scene will be the driverless car & truck arriving at a depot and destination near you.

The Authenticity Paradox - HBR

The Authenticity Paradox - HBR | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Why feeling like a fake can be a sign of growth
Art Jones's insight:
Why Leaders Struggle with Authenticity

The word “authentic” traditionally referred to any work of art that is an original, not a copy. When used to describe leadership, of course, it has other meanings—and they can be problematic. For example, the notion of adhering to one “true self” flies in the face of much research on how people evolve with experience, discovering facets of themselves they would never have unearthed through introspection alone. And being utterly transparent—disclosing every single thought and feeling—is both unrealistic and risky.

For Leaders, Looking Healthy Matters More than Looking Smart - HBR

For Leaders, Looking Healthy Matters More than Looking Smart - HBR | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
New evidence suggests that healthy-looking individuals are perceived as better leaders, even over intelligent-looking people.
Art Jones's insight:

Have you ever thought of the state of your wellness and apparent health status as part of the brand called you?

This study suggest that facial and physical cues versus cues that signal perceived intelligence informed the subjects in this study, who they believed would make the best leader.

So if you're still smoking a pack a day, hate exercise and love chugging that soda big gulp accompanied by a bag of cheetos, you might have to forget that promotion or advancing in your career.

I believe it is unfortunate that we humans have biases. However thats the way its been when our identity was a product of which tribe we were from.

This study bears out the notion that we all have biases. The opportunity we each have before us is to be aware of those biases and manage our decision making accordingly.

Why Your Customers’ Social Identities Matter - HBR | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
The way consumers see themselves determines their behavior—and you can influence that.
Art Jones's insight:

This article is about the when and why our prospects associate themselves with different Social Identities.

I believe that when you know who your product or service is designed to serve then you have taken the time to think deeply about who they are, where they live, how much they earn, etc. Each of us should know our ideal prospect so well that we have a pretty good idea what type of magnets they place on their in home refrigerator.

When you know who you and your business serve, inserting the notion of Social Identity into your marketing plans is easy peasy.

This article talks about the importance of knowing who you serve and why you serve them which is analogous to knowing your ideal prospect but ultimately more important because it positions the brand in role of servant.

The author provides 10 key characteristics of the servant leader within this article to cultivate and nurture as part of your brands leadership style. Enjoy!

donhornsby's curator insight, December 30, 2014 8:52 AM

(From the article): You are a servant leader when you focus on the needs of others before you consider your own. It's a longer-term approach to leadership, rather than a technique that you can adopt in specific situations. Therefore, you can use it with other leadership styles such as Transformational Leadership.

You can become a servant leader by working on these 10 characteristics:

Listening.Empathy.Healing.Awareness.Persuasion.Conceptualization.Foresight.Stewardship.Commitment to the growth of people.Building community.

Servant leaders are likely to have more engaged employees and enjoy better relationships with team members and other stakeholders than leaders who don't put the interests of others before their own.

In Life and Business, Learning to Be Ethical

In Life and Business, Learning to Be Ethical | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Most people, if pressed, would acknowledge that when it comes to ethics, they could use a tuneup.
Art Jones's insight:

Excerpt:

“Our survival instinct is to want to be liked and to be included,” said Brooke Deterline, chief executive of Courageous Leadership, a consulting firm that offers workshops and programs on dealing with ethical situations. “We don’t willfully do bad things, but when we’re under threat our initial instinct is to downplay or ignore problematic situations.”

Most people know the feeling: Something happens that we know is wrong and we mean to speak up or make it right. But we can’t quite figure out how to do it, and the moment passes. And then we justify that it was O.K. that we acted the way we did.

Ask Your Customers for Predictions, Not Preferences - HBR

Ask Your Customers for Predictions, Not Preferences - HBR | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
A gamified approach to market research.
Art Jones's insight:

Excerpt:

Purchase intent is notoriously overstated in survey responses, showing little correlation with actual sales performance. Perhaps it’s because we tend to be rationally driven in survey responses and emotionally driven in the heat of the shopping moment. Whatever the reason, as consumers we are lousy predictors of our own future behavior.

In contrast, when you ask a diverse group of people not “What are you going to do?” but rather, “What is going to happen?” the results tend to be far more accurate. That’s the phenomenon underlying the growing popularity of prediction markets, which are used to anticipate the likely success of an idea, product, or political candidate.

Humans Need Not Apply - YouTube

Discuss this video: http://www.reddit.com/r/CGPGrey/comments/2dfh5v/humans_need_not_apply/ http://www.CGPGrey.com/ https://twitter.com/cgpgrey ## Robots, Etc...
Art Jones's insight:

This video presents a sobering view of the near future where robots are doing the work that humans do today. Think back to the days when horses were a large part of the world's labor force, with the advent of the automobile horses through no fault of their own were replaced by autos.

All one has to do to validate the progress of robots is think of the tens of thousands of miles that driverless cars have driven up and down the California coast.

For those of you who believe that better technology makes more and better jobs for humans, think again, that wasn't the outcome for horses and it will not be true for us humans.

The reality is we have a very large social engineering opportunity to figure out, what will people do when robots are doing 60% of the jobs at work?
