Facebook: 24.63% of Social Referrals in December (Pinterest: 5.06%, Twitter: 0.82%)

Facebook: 24.63% of Social Referrals in December (Pinterest: 5.06%, Twitter: 0.82%) | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Art Jones's insight:

OK, so you've seen this article and think, yikes I better get busy creating content for my Facebook page and ride that wave of social referrals right to my website and the bank, not so fast.

Competing for attention in Facebook's NEWS FEED and thinking you're going to accomplish being seen organically is a daunting task. Like the roulette table in Vegas planning for a bountiful harvest of leads the odds are against you unless your prepared to pay facebook for the performance of each post.

The average user might see 1,500 items in their newsfeed everyday were it not for Facebook's algorithms that reduce the potential post presented to users to a more manageable 300.

When you want your brand to be easily found in news feed and become the beneficiary of the growth of SOCIAL REFERRALS showcased in the attached article,  be prepared to pay Facebook to achieve results.  Although Facebook says the algorithms are not designed to drive their advertising revenues, the result is just that, you've gotta pay to play.

How Do You Respond to a New Idea? - CCL e-Newsletter January 2015

How Do You Respond to a New Idea? - CCL e-Newsletter January 2015 | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Caution, skepticism, judging and dismissal may be understandable - and typical - responses to ideas that are new. Yet those responses kill innovation.
Art Jones's insight:

"Innovation doesn't happen without leadership. Regardless of the brilliance of your strategy, remember that the culture will support it or kill it. Since leaders have such a significant impact on the culture, it's up to you as the leader to develop it. So, the next time you hear a new idea or are asked to weigh in on a new solution, make a choice to lead innovation — or let an opportunity pass you by."

Why Nordstrom’s Digital Strategy Works (and Yours Probably Doesn’t) | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
The importance of integration.
Art Jones's insight:

We hear a lot of buzz about the need to become a Social Business, but what is becoming a SMACIT business all about?

SMACIT is an acronym for Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud & Internet of Things technologies. SMACIT is bigger than simply leveraging social media. SMACIT is important, because when you architect your business systems and business processes to leverage SMACIT, your committing to putting your customers experience first.

SMACIT enables businesses to serve their customers with a business process experience that is elegant in it's ease and incredibly empowering in the way it enables employees to serve customers needs.

Embracing SMACIT is how you will keep up with the pack. The persistent effort of those that began years ago, their foresight and commitment to SMACIT is rewarded by keeping them out in front.

How to Approach Digital Marketing in 2015

How to Approach Digital Marketing in 2015 | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
With the shift in the search marketing (SEO) landscape over recent years away from heavy focuses on keyword optimisation, it is high time for all digital marketing functions to become key elements of…
Art Jones's insight:

Excerpt:

Achieving incremental growth in organic search traffic and SEO success requires a combined effort. Not only are industries highly competitive, but it is no longer as easy to manipulate a search index position on Google. Greater effort is therefore required from every angle to enhance website performance, so the notion that website performance is measured solely on the actions of the SEO function reporting ranking changes is a fallacy.

Whilst it is true that each individual within a marketing function may well be a specialist in a particular area i.e. SEO, or social, there is far less of a distinction nowadays between roles in digital marketing due to the crossover of functions, especially with the change in landscape seen in search. As a result, there is an argument for organisations to match the shift in the digital industry, cross skilling their workforce to become more rounded digital marketing professionals.

Get Serious: How Social Media Became a Big Budget Marketing Category | Simply Measured | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
As a marketing channel, social media is in its adolescence. And no, that doesn’t mean that we should all start wearing JNCO Jeans and smoking clove cigarettes while complaining that our parents don’t understand us. Art Jones's insight:

Social media continues to grow and mature. No longer do leadership teams think of all social platforms as the unruly often misunderstood adolescent. Today social is a vital contributor to the growth and expansion of the brands. Brands that have patiently and thoughtfully employed social to seamlessly work together with other marketing teams, tools and initiatives.

Crossing the Experience Divide: Creating positive, lasting experiences is a crucial mandate for any brand - Brian Solis

Crossing the Experience Divide: Creating positive, lasting experiences is a crucial mandate for any brand - Brian Solis | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Art Jones's insight:

Providing customer experiences is the future of business. The luxury brand Burberry gets the importance of providing customer experiences. They have engineered customer experiences so they are enveloped in the stories they share about their garments. Burberry experiences are visual and intended to be injected directly into our personal life narratives.

Go into a Burberry shop and grab a full length coat, put it on. Now walk to a full length mirror to see how the garment looks on you. Wait for it, wait for it, then voila, the RFID tag within the garment signals the screen embedded in the mirror to play a video that shows the herd of sheep that the wool in your coat was shorn from. Next you will see a scene of the factory worker that machined that wool into fabric. Finally you'll see the garmento that cut the pattern that tailors the fabric into your jacket. The story of the jacket, the RFID technology, the video provides an amazing scintillating experience, The experience that Burberry leadership make available to it's shoppers suggest that they understand how to sell very expensive luxury fashion apparel. They are selling apparel and the experience  of shopping at Burberry.

What are you doing to provide experiences where your prospects and customers say, WOW?
