The Evolving Sales Funnel

The Evolving Sales Funnel | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

#Sales - There is a lot of talk about the death of the sales funnel, but I disagree. The sales funnel is very much alive; it has, however, evolved.

Via Pantelis Chiotellis
Art Jones's insight:

We are living in an age where 80% of people preparing to buy anything have consulted an on or offline social network. Where does this leave brands and their bands of sales people?  Sales people are in need of a new selling process paradigm. The graphic above points the way as it acknowledges the power of engagement throughout the sales funnel, however people expect more and more from the brands they do business with. One thing is certain, brands that do not continue to raise the bar of how they engage the people in their markets risk everything. #PeopleAlwaysMatter

Vivek Wadhwa: Get Ready for The Next Wave of Tech Disruptions - YouTube

Vivek Wadhwa predicts that virtually every major industry will soon be disrupted by technology innovation. His latest book is Innovating Women: The Changing ...
Art Jones's insight:

#TheFutureofBusiness

This short youtube video is a must view because it presents compelling evidence for how technology will continue to rapidly disrupt major industries.

The implementation of ROBOTICS is one of the many technologies discussed that has initiated seismic shifts within the balance of powers in manufacturing.  Robotics have become sophisticated tools capable of doing all the work that humans have done and robots work for us 24x7. Robots are now much less expensive to employ than even the cheapest human laborer. Thus the days when we would contract with offshore entities in China for manufacturing are over. Today the US & EU have replaced low cost foreign labor with robotic technologies making the US & EU the new global leaders in manufacturing (once again).

Mr. Wadhwa forecast is that by the end of this decade we will see Communications, Finance, Healthcare and Energy changed beyond recognition. Technology will disrupt industries, disrupted industries displace workers. That is the future of business, how will the future of the displaced worker playout?

Art Jones's insight:

Uber continues to fight every legal challenge and the battles are many. Could it be that the mounting legal challenges are the marketplace trying to tell Uber something? Or does all the legal wrangling mean that Uber is operating in a new domain without laws and as the disruptor, it is Uber's responsibility to write laws to accommodate the new business model borne out of their success and the marketplaces acceptance of the sharing economy?

Excerpt:

“There is no national or model response to this emerging market, and a ‘Wild West’ environment is the current state of play,” commented Matthew Daus, former commissioner of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission. Kalanick’s reply must have felt something like a declaration of war: “Was Yahoo upset when Google came out? Of course. In that industry, people compete. In the cab industry, they try to curtail competition.”

As Robots Grow Smarter, American Workers Struggle to Keep Up

As Robots Grow Smarter, American Workers Struggle to Keep Up | Modern Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Concern about technology — the printing press, the steam engine or the computer — supplanting humans is not new. But this time may be different.
Art Jones's insight:

The Future of Work

When we think of Uber and Lyft we think of our current personal experience. We poke an AP on our smartphone a car and driver shows up promptly, shepherds us to our destination where we simply exit the car, the financial transaction handled in the cloud. That scenario is what happens today. Many see the future on the horizon is one where Uber and Lyft employ fleets of DRIVERLESS  cars. The day when cars drive themselves is no longer the fiction of Jetson cartoons.  What becomes of the humans that once drove our taxi or short and long haul truck?  The future of work will see more and more people disintermediated by advances in technology. The next 10 years will challenge the decision makers to figure out what those displaced people will do to earn their living.

Social media and email marketing will need to become more sophisticated to reach an increasingly wary audience, and will come to be seen as amplifiers of distribution for content strategies."

Organization needs to change to a more human one, not to only respond to the external market and consumer changes, but also because of internal pressures. No longer will current organizational structures and processes survive in the current environment.

Art Jones's insight:

Adapt or Perish

People in today's marketplace  are the most empowered consumers ever, and they know it. When you think marketplace remember, that applies to all of the people, your customers and employees too.

People have a low tolerance for BS from the brands they do business with.

The resounding message from the marketplace, the people you need to be successful is,  be authentic.

  • Find your purpose
  • Make meaning
  • Be authentic

The marketplace will respect you for it.
