How to boost self esteem. Good self esteem is essential to a happy productive life. Self esteem can be lowered by holding negative, self destructive and self limiting beliefs about yourself. It is usually the case that these destructive beliefs do not stand up to scrutiny, they are incorrect, inaccurate and distorted. By challenging these negative beliefs you can once again achieve normal self esteem. Being able to restructure your inner experience to support your life goals is powerful stuff. Not many people can do it well. Many people have real trouble in doing very much at all. This then turns into depression and anxiety, low self esteem and low self confidence. CBT therapy can change this. The ability to detach from your immediate experience and to observe your thoughts drift across the screen of your consciouness allows you to lessen the their power over you.
