Debbie Ruston - The Success Educator's curator insight, April 24, 2013 8:48 AM

Lots of great ideas being shared by educators.  There are solutions to provide youth the type of education they require.  It is important to innovate, stop doing things the way we have always done them, utilize technology, work together and stop hanging on to the past way of doing things in education.  Change happens when people with a common vision join together to make it happen.

Responsibility vs Accountability

Responsibility vs Accountability | How does culture affect school leadership? | Scoop.it
If learners take responsibility for their learning, they will be more motivated to learn. If teachers are accountable for their learning, then there is no reason to be motivated other than for a grade.

Responsibility means a moral obligation and something taken upon one's self.

Most of the teachers we know feel wholly and morally responsible for their learners. That's why most of us went into the profession: to make a difference. Yet is it up to us for learners to learn the content?

Accountability is more of a social contract or social obligation. Accountability can be measurable. If teachers are accountable for their learners' learning, then why would learners feel responsible for their own learning?  - See more at: http://www.personalizelearning.com/2013/07/responsibility-vs-accountability.html#sthash.MGpmS5AM.dpuf

Thank you for sharing this article! I agree with the 3 Cs! I think a good way to know if you are moving from a boss to a leader is what John Maxwell says: If you are a boss, you lead with your title, and people follow you because they have to. When you are a leader, people follow you because they want to!
