A prototype app which automatically reports street problems to the relevant local authority when the user takes a picture of them is among winners of this year's Festival of Code

People take a picture of the problem they want to report, write a description, the app automatically detects their location and then reports the issue to the correct council. Simples.

The British children of today – who have rarely heard the chirping of a dial-up connection – have matched middle-aged folks' tech ability by the age of six, new Ofcom research has claimed.

Each participant was given a "digital quotient" (DQ) score, with six-year-olds having the same DQ as 45-year-olds, and 60 per cent of people aged 55 or over have a below average DQ.

In the UK, 97% of calls on the EE network were successfully connected, compared to 95.3% on O2, 94.2% on Three, and 92.6% on Vodafone.

While Chromebooks primarily access browser-based apps, things have gotten (it's American English BTW) interesting now that Google has partnered with VMware  to provide a virtual desktop environment for Google Chromebooks.
