Facebook Introduces A New Way To Find You: 'Graph Search' A New Search Engine From Social

Facebook Introduces A New Way To Find You: 'Graph Search' A New Search Engine From Social | Hot Blog Tips | Scoop.it

Your friends have shared their life with Facebook. Now, Facebook is making sure you can actually find what they've shared.

The social network unveiled a new search tool, Graph Search, that Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg described as the "third pillar" of Facebook, alongside News Feed and Timeline.

Graph Search, which is initially launching in beta as a limited preview for U.S. audiences only, will allow users to uncover social connections between other members of the site and quickly identify which friends have been to certain places, "liked" specific topics or appeared in certain photos.

This is a very exciting new product.  Very interesting how Facebook is designing a search engine around the information within your social graph.  Could really impact the market for Google Ad words very quickly if successful.

This Brand Blog Grew to 50 Million Monthly Readers in Just 10 Months. Here’s How | Hot Blog Tips | Scoop.it

I'm just quoting an extract from Natalie Burg's article:

Of those 100 or so fully composed daily stories, only about 15 will make it to the blog. The curators gnaw the contender list down by testing each with unpublished paid posts on Facebook. Rather than simply posting a link to their audience, PetFlow pays to distribute them to a certain segment of Facebook users who aren’t fans. If a post meets a certain criteria—a classified combo of likes, clicks, shares, or comments—it graduates to the blog and is shared with the PetFlow Facebook pack.

A fascinating look at the Upworthy-like curation system!

Why Ello is Not the End of Facebook, and Other Social Media Tales by @adhutchinson

Why Ello is Not the End of Facebook, and Other Social Media Tales by @adhutchinson | Hot Blog Tips | Scoop.it
It seems like every few months there’s another Facebook killer that comes into play. Early in 2014, Facebook was done, abandoned by teens, a blow that would equate to a slow death by a thousand non-clicks as the effects of losing that young audience rippled through, demographic by demographic. Based on various studies since, the youth migration seems to have some base – teens sick of having their parents, (or worse: grandparents), commenting on their status updates and life choices were migrating to cooler pastures, places where the adults hadn’t yet taken up residence. That, and the rapid growth of Snapchat, was enough to have commentators rattling off obituaries for the world’s largest social network – which continues to grow every day. Ello is the latest name on everyone’s cursor tips, the latest answer to the question of ‘what’s the future of social media?’ But is Ello the Facebook killer, as alleged, or is it another case of mistaken identity?

Description can be added in form of metadata, which the users can nderstand easily without having to download the whole resource.

Pop open Analytics and look at Acquisition > Social > Conversions. This report shows you how many people from which social networks are taking action.

If you want to dig into the data, measure the total traffic that came from each network and divide it by the number of conversions.

Now you’ll know the conversion rate, which is the likelihood that they’ll become customers!

Now you can see which social networks are bringing you the visitors that are likely to act.

Focus on those networks. Those are the visitors who are most likely to become paying customers."

How SMBs Can Most Effectively Use Twitter | V3 | Hot Blog Tips | Scoop.it

Conducted on over 600 small business owners via telephone interviews, the survey revealed that social media is, in some instances, helping SMBs fulfill some business goals. Of the seven most popular reasons to embrace social media, the top four were: connecting with customers (78%), marketing and promotion (72%), building online reputation (72%) and advertising (69%).  From a personal standpoint, it’s so interesting to me that businesses are still focused less on marketing or promoting or advertising than they are listening – what a missed opportunity....

Hashtags 101: How to Create Your Own #hashtag

Hashtags 101: How to Create Your Own #hashtag | Hot Blog Tips | Scoop.it
Many new Twitter users have a love/hate relationship with hashtags. Usually, when you start out on Twitter, you hate them – they’re confusing, overused, and they look funny. But as you become more comfortable with tweeting, you begin to realize that they are actually quite useful – they connect you to vast and varied communities you would otherwise never have discovered.

If you’re interested in creating your own hashtag, whether for your business, your personal brand or your celebrity fan club, this quick how-to guide will get you started.

Hashtags are a community-created way of organizing information on Twitter. And because of their grassroots origin, they are still a very open, egalitarian tool: anyone can create and use any hashtag.

If you’re brand new to hashtags, take a look at this hashtag etiquette guide before venturing out into Twitter’s Wild West.
