The most persistent sound you will hear while gazing up at Michelangelo's frescoes in the the Sistine Chapel is "Silencio"! Self paced tours in such a large property or museum like the Vatican makes so much sense I'm not sure what took them so long. Your requested language coming through the earbuds, hopefully some classical italian music too sounds like a perfect personal way to connect with the art. I would imagine that extra information on pieces that grab your eye would be available with a tap of a finger. Another bonus is these iPod self tours will alleviate group bottlenecks and extra talking. Silencio!
