"51% of Millennials (born between roughly 1977 and 1995) say that recommendations from strangers through user-generated content (UGC) on a company website is most likely to influence their opinion when making a purchase, compared to 49% who say that recommendations from friends and family is most influential, according to [pdf] survey results released in January 2012 by Bazaarvoice. By contrast, Boomers (born between roughly 1946 and 1964) are almost twice as likely to favor recommendations from friends and family over UGC (66% vs. 34%)."

This technology help customers in making decision through visual experience on their internet using device. This technology has expended into Hawaii hotels with approximately 3000 sites. Moreover, An average cost is about 10,000USD per year for hotel to implement this but can be varied depending on hotel sizes.

It definately upsells the hotel before guest arrival.

It's intersting that organisation acknowledge the effectiveness of social network but there is no action or implementation to optimize this medium function. Perhaps, "We're not at a point where we can track social media. There must be a point of sale for it to really become a valuable resource, but even then we need to master the techniques," said a Revenue Manager in charge of an 82 room 4-star property in Paris, France.
