This is my gift for horse people all over the world.  I realize you are looking for proven techniques to train both your horse and your students.  Now you do!  The Horse and Rider Awareness videos are homemade and follow the training progress of several horses and riders over the years.  They are live films taken in the actual training session so you can see what happens to real horses and riders.  There is no editing and I am filming as I coaching.  These techniques have been tested on 1000's of horses and riders and have also been used in instructor training and certification programs.

High-Tech Slo-Mo Reining Horse: What They Won't See in Oklahoma City This Weekend Via The Hoof Blog

High-Tech Slo-Mo Reining Horse: What They Won't See in Oklahoma City This Weekend Via The Hoof Blog | Horse and Rider Awareness | Scoop.it

You have to love the sport of reining, but you also have to admit that it is all sort of a blur when those little horses pick up the tempo. During the spin and slide I always wish I could see their legs and hooves. Good luck with that!

There's no doubt these horses get a workout in the biomechanics department so when I saw that Russell Guire of Centaur Biomechanics had videotaped a reiner with his high-speed video camera, I knew it would be worth watching in slo-mo.

So let's toast the beginning of the big weekend for the sport of reining...

@HoofcareJournal writes: Don't just ride, slide! Watch this high-tech video of a reining horse executing a slide. This is the biggest weekend in the sport of reining: The best horses and riders in the world are competing at the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma.

Russell Guire of Centaur Biomechanics captured a reining horse with his 300-frames-per-second high-speed video camera, for some high-quality slow motion. It's 25 times faster than the human eye.

Omega Fields - How to Sell through Your posts on Social Media

Omega Fields - How to Sell through Your posts on Social Media | Horse and Rider Awareness | Scoop.it

Marketing on Social Media is all about how we use our posts to “talk” to other people. Each post you share is an investment in your business and future success. By connecting with other people in your field, you will become a part of a network that will continue to expose you to more people who are looking for what you have to offer.

How to get Other People Talking

One of the best ways to get people to exchange comments, and to start “talking” with you is to respond to one of their posts first. Take your time and choose the posts of people you want to know better, or posts that a lot of people are already talking on. Join in that conversation and see if you can get people to respond to what you have to say. Imagine you are talking with a group of friends, how would you keep the conversation going? One way to get people talking is by asking questions. You can use open questions to everyone, or ask direct questions to whoever you want. Once the people in a community begin to respond to your posts, you will know that you have established yourself as a valued and welcome member. You will feel like you are a part of that community. That is when you can start letting people know what you have to offer with a “sales post.”

If you are not a part of the community you are sharing your “sales post” in, no one wants to hear from you and your posts will be ignored. In fact, you will be seen as a spammer and your post may be deleted and you banned.

"Hill work for connection" #1 Trudy and Ani

Feeling when our horses are really under our seats can be tricky. I have found one of the easiest ways is by making sure the riders legs are secure when they are riding up and down hills. This is a 3 part series. In the Part 2 I will show you how this works with another set of riders. Our rider is Trudy Adams on Ani

Move over, Buddy: Jack is the most popular name for American horses!

Move over, Buddy: Jack is the most popular name for American horses! | Horse and Rider Awareness | Scoop.it

Leave it to SmartPak. For years they've been putting labels on their little portionized supplements and medications for horses and shipping them to barns from coast to coast. The little strips reveal a horse's barn name, although their "show name" or registered name may be something completely different (and much harder to spell.)

So who better to tell us the most popular name for an American horse in 2012?

The top two names on last year’s list flip flopped this year with “Jack” replacing “Buddy” as the number one most popular. “Bella” moved up from number six to number three, dropping “Max” from three to four.

Two names not included in last year’s Top 10 moved on to the List this year as “Charlie” and “Annie” knocked “Blue” and “Teddy” off the list.

“Rocky” and “Cody” remain perennial favorites with each making its eighth appearance on the list since 2001, the first year that supplements became available in daily dose SmartPaks.

SmartPak’s Top Ten Most Popular Horse Names for 2012 are:
1. Jack
2. Buddy
3. Bella
4. Max
5. Rocky

6. Charlie

7. Chance

8. Cody

9. Annie

10. Beau

What if your favorite horse name didn't make the list? Personally, I'm partial to Moose and Rio and, who doesn't have a Red, a Star or a Clyde in their barn? What about Scout, Rex and Molly? Snowy, Taffy and Ginger for the ponies?

“If your horse isn't on our list, all you have to do is start him on SmartPaks today,” quips the company in a press release, as if they were reading my mind.

To check out the full list of this year’s Top 100 most popular horse names, please visit www.SmartPak.com/Top100.

Most of us do talk to animals at some level. However, when we are dealing with our personal animals... in certain situations, we get confused and are not sure what to do. I talked to Meredith about a cat that is a part of my family, Isis, who has cancer. She is an older cat at 13 years. The vet wanted to take off that hind leg from the hip. I had such a bad feeling about that and asked the vet for alternatives. She has now had 2 surgeries. The first one Isis barely survived. The second was much easier on her.

Meredith confirmed my fears about the amputation. She felt that Isis also had a bad feeling about the results of having it done. She also asked Isis about having more operations (the lump is aggressive and returns to the same spot) and felt that Isis was OK with that route. What was interesting was that after we talked, Isis did have a response. She stayed close to me and kept coming to me for more attention. I could tell that something had changed. How interesting is that? I also found that I now have much more peace of mind about what is happening... ~Randi
