What to do with a horse that pulls on the reins. Finding a new way"
In this series we focus on getting Susan's new horse, Darrien, to stop pulling (rooting) on the reins. He came to us with this issue as the previous owner was allowing other riders to ride him, and choose to have them ride him in side reins. As a result, he learned to shove his neck into his shoulders and to tighten his neck and back. We have been working on this for several months and are now finally seeing Darrien letting go as he stretches his neck and lifts his back. This is the work at the walk. We will continue with the trot and canter.
