Using Social Media to Build Links

Using Social Media to Build Links | Honoree Marketing Tips & News | Scoop.it

Over the last year or so we have seen many changes to the way companies go about implementing their link building campaigns. With search engines like Google looking to distinguish between high quality websites with authority and spam sites producing numerous backlinks to climb up search rankings, it has meant that many traditional anchor text based links have become less valuable.

This has led to more and more companies focusing on social media to facilitate their link building campaigns. In this article we will explain how companies go about link building using social media.

What is a digital book worth? Reflections on Pricing Book Apps for Kids in 2013 | The Digital Media Diet

What is a digital book worth? Reflections on Pricing Book Apps for Kids in 2013 | The Digital Media Diet | Honoree Marketing Tips & News | Scoop.it

Over two years ago, as one of my very first blog posts I wrote about the prices in the book app market, using my first 100 reviews for analysis. Now that I have reviewed over 700 titles in this new industry, I’d like to share a few of the points I made in 2011, which are still very much true … along with some stats to compare over time.

True today and even evident at the very beginning of this revolution in enhanced digital picture books was a tendency toward very low prices. If you compare these apps to other book-like products in the cultural environment, getting new releases for under $3 is rather unusual. However, this ‘sweet spot’ of $2.99 for eBooks is even more true today than two years ago, with over 70% of children’s book apps in our survey priced at $2.99 or less.

The Real Costs of Self-Publishing a Book | Mediashift | PBS

The Real Costs of Self-Publishing a Book | Mediashift | PBS | Honoree Marketing Tips & News | Scoop.it

At every writers conference or self-publishing panel the question that almost always inevitably comes up is: “How much will self-publishing really cost me?”

Because the book publishing industry is one of the last industries to go digital, it’s going through a quick transition. As a result of this shift, authors no longer need to go through the traditional gatekeepers to publish high-quality books and are instead moving toward self-publishing. Launching a book is like launching a startup. Putting together a quality book involves not just writing it, but getting it edited, then formatted, designing a cover, and having a marketing strategy around it.

Below, I break down the costs of how much professional services will cost you for a high-quality book ...

Survey Reveals Which Demographics Use What Social Media [INFOGRAPHIC]

Survey Reveals Which Demographics Use What Social Media [INFOGRAPHIC] | Honoree Marketing Tips & News | Scoop.it

A massive survey of internet users reveals trends in social media usage across numerous platforms, ages, races, genders, population density and which social media sites do they frequently visit.

The Pew Research Center has released the results of a comprehensive social media survey, conducted over several years to evaluate which demographics were using social media, and on which platforms. Which social networking sites emerged on top?

Of the online adults surveyed at the end of 2012:

67% use Facebook

20% use LinkedIn

16% use Twitter

15% use Pinterest

13% use Instagram

6% use Tumblr

A decent amount of Americans appear to be using social media, but which demographics use social media in greater numbers?

It appears that women use social media 9% more than men do, at a whopping rate of 71%. Other frontrunners with the highest social network activity in their demographic include city dwellers(70%), Hispanics (72%) and adults with a household income below $30,000 annually (72%).

The most pervasive and consistent divider amongst social media users remains, unsurprisingly, their age. 83% of the young adult demographic (18-29 year olds) use social media, which is well over double the activity of online adults over 65 years old (32%).

Interesting but not surprising. I think the older the Gen X-, Gen Y, Millenials and Digital Natives grow, the higher the stats for all ages.
