You’re exasperated because you’ve tried everything – opening the window, using a humidifier to purify the air, “gently” tapping them on the shoulder hoping to not wake them but shake them out of their snoring-spell. Nothing has worked so far.

How to Improve Lung Health Naturally

How to Improve Lung Health Naturally | Home Salt Therapy and Saltair Salinizer Tips for Best Results | Scoop.it

5 ways to improve your lung health, naturally.

1.Quit smoking – smoking destroys the cilia that help in removing pollutants and impurities from the air we breathe; ages the cells prematurely and reduces the oxygen intake in our breathing

2. Minimize indoor air pollutants by reducing the use of chemical based products (air fresheners and cleaning products) and use air cleaning devices.

3. Use Home Salt Therapy to maintain a good hygiene over the whole respiratory system, clear clogged airways and reduce inflammation; the salt particles also clean the indoor air – negatively charged particles of salt stick to the positively charged particles of pollutants, dust and allergens; kills bacteria and fungi.

4. Have a healthy diet with nutrients that improve and protect lungs – beta-carotene and antioxidants from carrots, berries, apples, citrus and greens; ginger, garlic, onions, turmeric are also very good to reduce inflammation and clear mucus; reduce the intake of fatty foods, meat and dairy products.

5. Breathing Exercises – sit straight on a chair in a ridding position, slightly press your abdomen and slowly lower your body forward; put your hands onto your knees and relax; breathe slowly only through your nose, so that neither your abdomen nor chest moves, for about 10 minutes.

Home Salt Therapy Proves Helpful in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Home Salt Therapy Proves Helpful in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) | Home Salt Therapy and Saltair Salinizer Tips for Best Results | Scoop.it

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is characterized by difficulty in breathing due to blockages in air flow. The two most common manifestations of COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Either the bronchial tubes become inflamed and constrict or the air sacs or alveoli in the lungs are destroyed as happens in emphysema.

The most common symptoms are shortness of breath, tightness in chest, wheezing, cyanosis, infections, weight loss and lack of energy. Such conditions may exacerbate from time to time. The long term risks are infections, high blood pressure, heart problems, lung cancer and depression. After tests doctors prescribe bronchodialators, steroid inhalations, oral steroids, theophylline and antibiotics along with lung therapy. As matters stand today, COPD cannot be cured but the condition of the patient can be stabilized with the use of appropriate therapeutic agents and skilful management.

Methods of management include inhalants containing agonists to improve lung function and corticosteroids administered through inhalation to delay deterioration and reduce occurrences of acute symptoms. Along with this a patient is advised not to smoke or stay in polluted environments since these two can aggravate COPD. Keeping yourself active and eating foods that promote expulsion of phlegm and mucus certainly help as much as it does to avoid consuming foods that promote sticky mucus such as sweets. Apart from regular therapeutic models of management, there are some simple, home based methods a patient can try to keep COPD well controlled.  Two such methods are to use an ozone generator and a salt spray or mister. Ozone improves delivery of oxygen and promotes oxygen metabolism in cells while improving immunity. However, method of administration is not easy.

One of the best forms of home remedies with high therapeutic value is salt due to its ease of administration and almost no side effects.

Salt promotes secretion of fluids and clears up phlegm and mucus that are partly responsible for blockages causing COPD. If you breathe in air in which fine salt particles are suspended, the salt help to clear your lungs and air passages and breathing becomes easier. You can buy ready to use devices that use ultrasonics to disperse fine particles of salt into the surroundings. Breathe in the salty air so created and you will get relief. The seashore and salt caverns are where you will find air rich in salt but this is not practical for everyone. Halotherapy with the use of appropriate devices can bring relief, wherever you are. Another benefit of dispersing salt in the air is that it kills of bacteria and viruses that can infect you.

Before the advent of such portable equipments that dispensed salt in the air, patients would spend time in salt caverns or use salt pipes. Salt, it has been proved; decreases cough intensity and its occurrences, making it easy for the patient to cough up mucus. At the same time dependence on inhalers and drugs is reduced, improving the overall health condition of the patient as also hospital admissions and uncomfortable symptoms such as wheezing. Salt extends life and makes it comfortable.

Emphysema: Its Risk Factors

Emphysema: Its Risk Factors | Home Salt Therapy and Saltair Salinizer Tips for Best Results | Scoop.it

We know smoking is injurious to health. It causes severe injury to lungs and increases its vulnerability to different types of infections. One such smoking induced disorder is the major damage in air sacs in lungs, which makes patients suffer from abruptly shortage of breath. This problem is called emphysema and it is one of the diseases counted in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease group, shortly known as COPD.

The symptoms of this lung disorder often remain non-acute, but chronic. People suffering from emphysema mostly suffer from respiratory discomfort, difficulty when exhaling, and recurring irritation due to cough and wheezing. Its symptoms are slowly progressive therefore often remain undetected at its first stage. Learning about its risk factors will help you to avoid its triggers and thus to ensure better protection from this lung disease.

Tobacco smoking

Cigarette smokers are at the great risk of developing emphysema; however, those who smoke pipe or cigar are not spared either. The intensity of the addiction and number of year under the addiction works as the trigger.

Aging increases the risk of infection

Although all smokers are susceptible to this lung disease, people between 40 and 60 years are mostly found at high risk zone for developing the lung trouble.

Exposure to passive smoking

People who are regularly exposed to passive smoking may have developed this infection after a certain time. In this way kids may also be affected by this respiratory problem being induced by passive smoking around.

Occupational exposure to harmful fumes

Those are not typically smoking-addicted but are regularly exposed at fumes of cotton, mining products, grain or woods may develop the problem of emphysema. The risk gets doubled if anyone of these fume-exposed individuals is found smoking addicted.

Exposure to pollution

Regular and high-degree exposure to harmful pollutants like fumes of fuel, car emission, coal fumes, dust and grime may increase the risk of emphysema infection in an individual.

Knowing the risk factors and maintaining rigorous avoidance of these risk factors is one of the prime methods to build natural resistance to emphysema.

To avoid chronic respiratory diseases such as emphysema, asthma, COPD and others, using home salt therapy is a good start. The salt aerosol helps in strengthening the respiratory mucosa to allergens and help to clean the pollutants from the respiratory system. Maintaining a good hygiene on the respiratory tract is a priority today!
