63 Things Every Student Should Know In A Digital World - TeachThought

63 Things Every Student Should Know In A Digital World - TeachThought | Home Education Canada | Scoop.it

"But in an increasingly connected and digital world, the things a student needs to know are indeed changing—fundamental human needs sometimes drastically redressed for an alien modern world. Just as salt allowed for the keeping of meats, the advent of antibiotics made deadly viruses and diseases simply inconvenient, and electricity completely altered when and where we slept and work and played, technology is again changing the kind of “stuff” a student needs to know."

Major Changes to Education in Newfoundland

Major Changes to Education in Newfoundland | Home Education Canada | Scoop.it

From HSLDA -

The Government of Newfoundland announced last week that it will be amalgamating all the English school boards in the province (from three to one).

This may cause very significant changes for homeschooling families in the province.  Currently, Eastern and Western districts work fairly well with homeschooling families, although they require some of the highest levels of reporting in the province. Central District is so unreasonable in their requirements that homeschoolers either refuse to register or are denied if they try.

2009-study-synopsis.pdf

The latest research project of CCHE is a study titled: Fifteen Years Later: Home-Educated Canadian Adults. Up until now, little has been known of Canadian adults who were home-educated as students, particularly as they compare to their Canadian adult peers. Following a 1994 study, hundreds of families were followed up with to determine the result of their home education into their adult years.

Cynthia Duncalfe's insight:

Although created in 2009, this report provides some very interesting and relevant insights - worth the read!
