Forget Time Management, Focus on Stress Management

Forget Time Management, Focus on Stress Management | Holistic Nutrition Health and Wellness | Scoop.it

I'm always surprised when people ask me about how to manage their time.

"This time management of which you speak, what is that?" I joke.

Well, sort of. It's not really a joke, because I don't really manage my time. I manage my stress. Time management is something they teach you in bookkeeping class in college. Life teaches you to manage stress loads like you are putting weights on a scale. Overload yourself, and you won't have enough time to finish anything. Manage your stress and you will suddenly have enough time to get it all done. Here's how:

Ellen Naylor's insight:

A great approach to time management, although I don't agree that eating whole wheat promotes clear thinking. I notice when I am less stressed my day just flows and I get so much done, rather than being glued to a check-off list.

6 Surefire Ways to Eliminate Stress During the Workday | Holistic Nutrition Health and Wellness | Scoop.it

You've heard it many times, including in this column: Stress is bad. It can damage your brain, screw up your health, travel from person to person, and even kill you. Our modern workplaces are great at creating stress and anxiety. How do we turn that off?

Robert Allen Fahey, Ph.D., an academic dean at Computer Systems Institute in Boston, and also a noted psychic, has suggestions for a few very easy steps anyone can take during any workday. These will automatically reduce your stress levels, he says, and help you keep on an even keel whatever comes your way. They're all things you can do at your desk, and most take only a few seconds. Here's his list:

I hadn't thought about the different between eating raw veggies vs raw fruits in that raw fruit is easier to digest since it has less fiber.

Graham Player Ph.D.'s curator insight, February 19, 8:49 AM

The sugar content contained in fresh fruits and vegetables, and their juices, is very different from refined sugars and other concentrated sweeteners such as corn syrup.

The natural fresh foods contain a high percentage of water as well as oxygen, enzymes, vitamins and minerals, in addition to their sugars. This combination of nutrients provides the body much of what it needs to effectively utilize and break down that fresh food item and its natural sugars. In contrast processed and packaged foods containing refined sugars, sweeteners and chemicals do not come with the same compliment of necessary nutrients to utilize and break down the contents of that food item.
