The book examines the underlying principles that guide effective teaching in an age when everyone,and in particular the students we are teaching, are using technology. A framework for making decisions about your teaching is provided, while understanding that every subject is different, and every instructor has something unique and special to bring to their teaching.The book enables teachers and instructors to help students develop the knowledge and skills they will need in a digital age: not so much the IT skills, but the thinking and attitudes to learning that will bring them success. Awesome Moodle Quiz tutorial and guide by the OpenU available on Moodle.net

Awesome Moodle Quiz tutorial and guide by the OpenU available on Moodle.net | hoger onderwijs | Scoop.it

The Open University is not only the organization pushing the development and innovation of the Quiz Module for Moodle, it’s also recently provided one of the best primers for learning about Moodle’s quiz, the pedagogical theory behind assessment, and showcases the many OU create question types as well. The module is freely available to registered users (and has been posted to Moodle.net), and they estimate about 3 hours to complete it. The conditional release of materials will help to keep you on track.

As a bonus you can also “work along” with the training module to create your own quiz questions on your own Moodle (which is the goal of the tutorial). Check it out at http://www.open.edu/openlearnworks/course/view.php?id=1643

Beth Dichter's curator insight, October 13, 2014 10:00 PM

Here is an up-to-date review of five tools that allow you to create infographics. Each tool is described. There is a list of pros and cons for each tool. All have free versions available, and some have more robust versions that cost additional money.

The five tools that are discussed are:

* Visme

* Canva

* Easel.ly

* Piktochart

* Infogr.am

Providing opportunities for students to create infographics allows them to create graphs, use a different style of writing, and have some fun while showing that they understand key concepts and ideas.

As schools are coming to the end of the year in my part of the world, many of us will begin to think about changes we might make next year in our classroom...and chances are for some that will include the concept of gamification.

This post from Edudemic provides descriptions of three edtech tools that may help you in this process.

* Socrative is a free program that allows you to create questions and students may answer using a wide variety of platforms.

* Kahoot is also a response system, but is designed gaming mechanics to provide motivation and engagement. There are many unique features to this tool and it worth checking out their website at https://getkahoot.com/

* FlipQuiz is similar to Jeopardy. It "makes it easy to design game-show style activities in the classroom that transform learning into an engaging and entertaining experience."

The post includes an introductory video for each tool.
