Paul Avila's curator insight, November 30, 2013 10:09 PM

This is useful tool for those teaching World History, whether the classroom is flipped or not. It provides images of the locations as well as descriptions. Teachers could refer to this site when they are in a unit where one of these places are referenced. They could use it to show what the location looks like today.

Vindy.com - A Revolutionary idea: video game is set in George Washington’s war

Vindy.com - A Revolutionary idea: video game is set in George Washington’s war | History Education | Scoop.it

Wars and video games seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly. But those games usually involve tanks and machine guns and Tet offensives; not horses, bayonets and Bunker Hill.

Now, though, one of the biggest game releases of the upcoming holiday season is immersing players in the Revolutionary War, with key cameos from George Washington, Ben Franklin and other Founding Fathers.

“Assassin’s Creed III,” which was released Tuesday, immerses players in Colonial America and the Revolutionary War.

Paul Avila's curator insight, November 30, 2013 10:04 PM

This is an entertaining way to illustrate the historical narrative. This connects facebook, a social media outlet most students are familiar with, to a general overview to world history events. Even though it may not provide an in depth look into the events themselves, teachers could use this to refer to through the school year. Then, they can expand on the events as they go down the timeline.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is here and teachers are trying to figure out how to best integrate it into their tried-and-true lessons. They’re struggling to integrate technology to best augment CCSS. They are in desperate need of classroom materials that they can trust.

Like a superhero, the U.S. Library of Congress has just swooped in and unveiled an enormous new (and free!) resource that’s all about the Common Core. It’s located at http://www.loc.gov/teachers and worth checking out.

3D brengt geschiedenis tot leven

3D brengt geschiedenis tot leven | History Education | Scoop.it
