After reviewing survey feedback, I have selected a number of popular sessions to share here in today’s post."

AHS Model UN's curator insight, November 19, 2015 2:13 PM

Population growth in an important topic that is connected to economic development.  If you've seen Hans Roslings TED talks, this is an hour-long version of many of the same concepts and data visualizations.  His Gapminder data visualization tool, it is a must see for geography teachers to show the connections between population statistics and developmental patterns--let students see the data.  This is an article that looks at a different factor, arguing that overpopulation isn't the real issue.

"I recently appeared on MSNBC’s The Cycle to discuss the new edition of my book The War Against Boys. The four hosts were having none of it. A war on boys? They countered with the wage gap and the prominence of men across the professions. One of them concluded, “I don’t think the patriarchy is under any threat.”"

The sad statement here is that we are arguing that it is ok to marginally serve any population.  Are these commentators not the same people that decry education regularly?  I take that we are beginning to help our girls learn better as a positive.  Are we only capable of one  group at a time? No!  This is a reminder to teach for all in engaging ways.

Easily Create Classroom Posters on iPad Using Pic Collage App ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Easily Create Classroom Posters on iPad Using Pic Collage App ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | History and English | Scoop.it

"Somebody has recently asked me for  a review of an app that can allow students to easily create posters on iPad. Pic Collage is the best option I recommend. With Pic collage you can take a bunch of picture and make one picture of it.

Using Pic Collage you can combine your photos in different ways . Scatter photos onto the background of your choosing or create a grid of your photos. Take the best parts of two photos to make one great one. Create a panorama or a mosaic out of multiple photos. If a picture speaks a thousand words, you can tell a whole story in a single frame with this app."

Assessing Student Learning - five practical guides

Assessing Student Learning - five practical guides | History and English | Scoop.it

After a decade of rapid expansion in Australian higher education, student numbers have grown considerably in many courses and subjects, especially at the undergraduate level.

Larger class sizes pose significant teaching challenges, not least in the assessment of student learning. Perhaps most troubling, large classes may limit the amount of feedback provided to students.
