5 Qualitative Approaches described by Creswell set in a Quiz Show Game template

5 Qualitative Approaches described by Creswell set in a Quiz Show Game template | Higher Education Topics & Resources | Scoop.it

Check.It.Out! Look at what I put together to distinguish the five qualitative approaches to research that Creswell (2013) described in his book. I had NO IDEA PowerPoint presentations could be this interactive! It's all about hyper linkingbetween the slides and I'm so impressed with the result. Almost 40 pgs summarized in one presentation that's fun to navigate thru. You can download the presentation and edit it to your heart's delight so you can use the template for other topics/subjects if you want.

Creswell, J. W. (2013). Qualitative inquiry and research design: Choosing among five approaches (3rd ed.). Los Angeles, CA: Sage.

Olgy Gary's insight:

I'd love to take credit for this but the content is all Creswell's and the platform is all due to PowerPoint's hyperlinking features. :-)

"My inclusion on a new ‘watchlist’ is intended to shame me into silence...In my classrooms, I refuse to remain silent in the face of racism, its subtle and systemic structure. I refuse to remain silent in the face of patriarchal and sexist hegemony and the denigration of women’s bodies..."

Jerry Watts' Open Letter to Students on the Challenge and Demand of Pursuing a Life of the Mind

Jerry Watts' Open Letter to Students on the Challenge and Demand of Pursuing a Life of the Mind | Higher Education Topics & Resources | Scoop.it
Professor Jerry Watts, generous of mind and spirit, has passed away. Jerry exhibited the very best qualities of a scholar, and none of the worst. He was a friend and mentor to hundreds of graduate students at the City University of New York, and a welcoming face around the Graduate Center for countless more. He would talk to anyone, and had good words for all. Jerry made academia a place you wanted to be.

Time Management Apps: Work Smarter, Not Harder! | Tips for Online Students

Time Management Apps: Work Smarter, Not Harder! | Tips for Online Students | Higher Education Topics & Resources | Scoop.it
This trickery on my brain’s part came to an end when I started using time management apps. I was able to track how much study time I spent at my computer versus checking emails, G-chatting, or Facebooking my time away. One additional advantage of tracking time was that, once I knew how much time it took for me to post to the forums, or to research and write a paper, I also knew how many hours it would take me to complete similar assignments in the future.

"Grit is a personality trait that some people have more of than others. New research is exploring whether grit may be a key to college success...Duckworth's research suggests that when it comes to high achievement, grit may be as essential as intelligence. The Invisible Latina Intellectual

The Invisible Latina Intellectual | Higher Education Topics & Resources | Scoop.it

"...Why is it still so difficult for people to accept Latinas as leaders and intellectuals? A recent New York Times article asks, “What has happened to the powerful women of South America?” in response to female leaders who have been taken out office or whose popularity has sharply declined. One person interviewed replied it was a “logical response,” based on traditional male leadership. But in the United States, there are women of color who are synonymous with intellectualism and who are household names..."

Olgy Gary's insight:
Excellent article! Loved the links, the thoughts shared throughout the article. Loved the last paragraph, "Yes, Let’s become just like them, and still wear a red dress, just to confuse our colleagues. Yes, you can be a Latina and an intellectual. In fact, it seems to me, after what I’ve learned writing this essay, the terms are synonyms. Let’s make the world see that." Also LOVED Dr. Acosta's bio and photo. Totally on point. :-)

"The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a race-conscious admissions policy at the University of Texas at Austin, putting an apparent end to one of the most closely watched cases in higher education. The plaintiff in the case, Abigail N. Fisher, had accused the Austin campus in 2008 of discriminating against her after she was denied admission. She subsequently graduated from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. The 4-to-3 ruling in the case, Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin, No. 14-981, represents..."

The number of students capable of anything resembling a conventional university education is drying up and the spectre of extinction is haunting British and American campuses.
