Does new technology conflict with or complement established teaching and learning? What is the impact on the teaching profession as we have traditionally known it? Will the power of the internet, with new innovations such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), create an unstoppable ‘avalanche’ of education reform, or are these reforms a false revolution? Can the value of face-to-face quality learning and student-teacher relationships ever really be questioned, at any level of education? Will the class room, lecture theatre, and traditional notion of education space – schools and universities – be usurped by a screen, online and distance learning, or alternative spaces such as the workplace, home, or concert-hall?

In my last blog post I argued that after decades of debate and proselytizing about e-learning we are still talking about it in terms of ‘potential’, like promising the arrival of Christmas and never really delivering, with higher education experiencing it’s own groundhog day – December 22nd over and over and over again, only hinting at the joys of a Christmas to come?
The center has built a Simulation Lab for STEM skills to develop and deploy immersive educational experiences using innovative 2D, 3D simulations. Towards this the Simulation Lab focusses on learning and assessment via interactive simulations and interfacing of handheld devices to enhance learning and assessment. The researchers work on technological frameworks that address education, systems architecture, content aligned to curricula, multi-modal approaches for various learner types. We pioneered the development and deployment of an Intelligent tutoring and Adaptive assessment program in over 45 Indian schools in rural and small city neighbourhoods. For six years, the center has been a change agent for training women. It has provided free training to hundreds of women teachers in both city and rural schools in the use of ICT and computer aided learning methodologies. It also provides training for women in language skills, thereby empowering them to get better jobs. Small and medium scale statistical studies validate our bridging of the digital divide and creating more inclusiveness in societal development.

Teaching & Learning Inquiry is a journal building a strong reputation for scholarly excellence, and one valuing creative as well as traditional approaches to understanding teaching and learning and ways to share that understanding.
TLI's Aims and Scope The overarching objective of TLI is to advance the understanding of teaching and learning. Published twice annually, TLI features original research and commentary on the scholarship of teaching and learning. This may include empirical investigations, theoretical analyses, thought-provoking essays, or works employing other genres. TLI welcomes submissions from all disciplines, research traditions, and perspectives related to teaching and learning. The boring university lecture is going to be the first major casualty of the rise in online learning in higher education, says Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. The custodian of the world's biggest online encyclopaedia says that unless universities respond to the rising tide of online courses new major players will emerge to displace them, in the way that Microsoft arrived from nowhere alongside the personal computer.
