University and college applicant numbers rise by 0.2%, UCAS reports today

So far, 593,720 people have applied to UK higher education courses in 2016, an increase of 0.2% compared to the same point last year. UK applicant numbers (495,940) have decreased slightly (-0.3%), due to fewer English applicants (-1%) mostly aged between 20 and 34.
