Do you want a nurse administering medications who was only assessed using multiple choice options? A development math instructor recently told me that some of his incoming students with Algebra credits on their transcripts were unable to use a simple ruler effectively. The student's course had transferred from high school to college but the skills clearly had not. Credits are not enough without mastery and the ability to apply concepts to the real-world.
