No matter how far we evolve from the little red schoolhouse, we cannot afford to sacrifice the foundation of education that is built upon the unique relationship between teacher and student.

This article is a sound reminder not to abandon sound pedagogy for for cool technology.  Yes, technology can assist, but it there needs to an underlying rationale for the inclusion of technology otherwise it is simply trying to spend our way out of a problem.

Why Wikipedia Does Belong in the Classroom. Com bom senso da para usar Wiki? | High tech and art in the school. | Scoop.it
The proper place of social media in the classroom remains a mystery to most people, with Wikipedia standing as the biggest, baddest new media nemesis of them all.

This is what I tell my students every semester: "Wikipedia is not a bad place to start research--just make sure that it doesn't stop there."

This is very interesting as many professors cringe at the word Wikipedia. The site can be edited however usually a good resource on wikipedia will have sources and links at the end of the page.

The Trouble With Online Education

The Trouble With Online Education | High tech and art in the school. | Scoop.it
Internet courses are monologues. True learning is a dialogue.

Online education is a paradigm shift for many, one that I encourage...but must it be the paradigm shift for all?  There are strengths and weaknesses in both face-to-face and online education...I still prefer to have a classroom and infuse that with digital communication.

How Twitter is Reinventing Collaboration Among Educators

How Twitter is Reinventing Collaboration Among Educators | High tech and art in the school. | Scoop.it

Once upon a time, collaboration with professionals with overlapping interests meant attending conferences and was dependent on formal organizations.  Today, teachers are technologically empowered to seek each other out and establish those links personally.  This is the new professional development paradigm that is reshaping educational networks and collaboration.
