My thoughts, Goal 1

Bioengineering is a very interesting career field that is also know as biomedical engineering. It is basically a combination of practicing medicine with engineering and brings the engineering philosophies into the medical field. Bioengineers do things like creating imaging and diagnostic tools to help in the medical field, they enhance living systems through different technology designs, and work to stop or prevent injuries to living systems. THey will work to create and perfect things like artificial joints, MRI machines, arthroscopy, beioengineered skin, heart-lung machines, and even monitors for hospitals. The amount of opportunities bioengineers has is really interesting to me and would fulfill many of my interests. I think bioengineering would be a good choice for me so I will continue to look into the colleges and universities that offer bioengineering to undergraduates.

Should Science Majors Pay Less for College Than Art Majors? - The Atlantic

Should Science Majors Pay Less for College Than Art Majors? - The Atlantic | High School to Engineering | Scoop.it

My thoughts: Goal 1,

As a person looking into engineering, although I am fairly confident engineering is the right path for me, I know i would be more interested in engineering if I knew it would cost less to go to school because it will save my family money and help out my family in general which is one of my values. It is definitely a "pro" of engineering and if each type of engineering was less or one cost less than others, this could make that type of engineering slightly more appealling. Furthermore, one of my values is education, but because going to college is expensive, it is likely that I currently will be able to afford to go for four years. If they made the tuition less expensive for the STEM majors, (science, technology, engineering, and math), then i could further my education and attend school for maybe an extra year or two to further my education and build my knowledge. I honestly believe, although it is giving some students a slight advantage over others, that if we encourage students in the math and science to complete these degrees, there will be more possibilities to improve and more jobs will be covered and opened up because they are highly demanded.

What is Environmental Engineering?

What is Environmental Engineering? | High School to Engineering | Scoop.it

My Thoughts: Goal 1,

Environmental Engineers are basically engineeris working to clean up our past mistakes with the environement and better our future. They will typically assess the problem with the environmental region, and come up with a plan to clean up the mess, and usually will assist with cleaning the mess. They have jobs like design and work on the water and sewage treatment pipelines, and work more "in the field" rather than just working a desk job like other engineering types. They typically earn between $43,000 and $53,000 to start which is, however, lower than many other types of engineers. I think It would be an interesting job field and is crucial to cleaning up our society, but I think I would rather design and work as a different type of engineer. There are also fewer job openings which would be limiting on my chances out of college to get a job, so i will further my research on other engineering types.
