While games are generally thought of as educational tools in classrooms geared toward younger learners, they can also be beneficial for students at higher levels when they are accompanied by a cultural significance. This website has 10 cultural games that reflect the traditions of Spanish-speaking children from various countries in South and Central America and Spain. These games not only promote cultural awareness, but also tie into the ACTFL national standards as students can make comparisons between the games played during their childhood in America and the games they are learning about from Latin America and Spain.

What is bilingual education? Bilingual education is when a person is educated in two languages. Generally speaking, bilingual education is used when talking about immigrants receiving at least partial education in their native tongue. For example, a Mexican family moves here and enrolls their child into school. Once in school, their child struggles because they don’t speak the common tongue (English) at a high enough level to keep up.
