Vintage Butch of the Week - Thelma Wood #DjunaBarnes

Vintage Butch of the Week - Thelma Wood #DjunaBarnes | Herstory | Scoop.it

To be the inspiration for the central character in one of the most iconic modernist texts is no small feed - especially considering, you are a notorious drunk and cheat. Thelma Wood nevertheless managed to do just that: her lover Djuna Barnes based Robin Vote on her and thus made her virtually immortal as the protagonist of Nightwood.

A 4-Year-Old Girl Asked A Lesbian If She's A Boy. She Responded The Awesomest Way Possible.

Ash Beckham is awesome. She also happens to be gay, and she thinks it's hard for straight people coming out of the closet.

Deanna Dahlsad's insight:

This not just about being gay -- it's about the hard conversations we all face, the fact that not having those conversations is killing us, that living with any sorts of stress and fear is being closet.

Women - Especially Lesbians- Are Shallow Money Sucking Beasts Says President of Marriage Policy

Women - Especially Lesbians- Are Shallow Money Sucking Beasts Says President of Marriage Policy | Herstory | Scoop.it

Just a few days before Women’s Equality Day, the President of the Center for Marriage Policy, David R. Usher, made a very bold statement, accusing women, especially lesbians, of being shallow, money-sucking beasts who desire to enslave men.  His article in Renew America on August 21 has triggered a landslide of reactions from many people, including the LGBTQ community, wondering which dense brain cell he could have pulled his theories out of.

According to David Usher, same sex marriages (especially between women), if allowed to spread across the nation, will spur a mass enslavement of men.  How will this occur?  Apparently, lesbian women are primed to get themselves pregnant outside of their partnership by unsuspecting straight and even gay males, who they will then demand child-support from, raping the tax-payers to support their “sinful” lifestyle.  He even goes so far as to suggest that single mothers would marry each other in order to collect double child-support and cause an economic slavery to occur for heterosexual men everywhere.
