Coding, Computer Science and iPads - My Current View

Coding, Computer Science and iPads - My Current View | Henkbaams | Scoop.it
"I have spoken a lot recently about my frustration with a lack of apps that help teach children to code. Largely this frustration is centred around the resulting perception of ICT and edtech this limitation gives our schools. If a school invests wholesale in a set of iPads then the ICT curriculum for these children can be based largely around internet research, movie making and a collection of multimedia authoring apps. And though I love my iPads and iPad lessons the aspect of struggle or challenge for children using these devices is not always apparent or indeed talked about."

Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale!

Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale! | Henkbaams | Scoop.it
iPad deployment includes all of the steps between buying an iPad and beginning to use the device. For an individual’s personal iPad, this is often a very fast and easy process lasting no longer than five minutes: You just open the box, turn it on, download the apps you want on your device, and go. But for a school, or district, with potentially hundreds of iPads–each one requiring a specialized list of apps that need to be purchased before protecting the devices with a case and sending them out to classrooms. As an administrator or teacher, there are a few things you will need to know before you deploy your iPads

15 Excellent iPad Apps for Creating Books ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

15 Excellent iPad Apps for Creating Books ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Henkbaams | Scoop.it
"I just learned through our colleagues in TeachThought about this interesting list featuring 15 iPad apps to create books. The list was created by Meg Wilson . Of course the word 'book' here is, more or less, used metaphorically to mean small to medium size writing projects. These are projects you can do with your students in class or ones that can span the entire semester or even school year. Book Creator and Book Writer are my favourite apps in this list and some of the apps included here are also new to me which is not surprising giving the rapidity with which apps are developed and created each day."

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Henkbaams | Scoop.it
"A few weeks ago I posted here a poster on iPad basics which many of you have downloaded to use with their students in the class. Today, I am sharing with you another great resource on iPad. This is not a graphic but a quick reference card on everything you and your students need to know about iPad. From the hardware to networking features , this little manual can serve as a leading guide to a better manipulation of your iPad. I am not sure how much iPading you are doing in your classroom but whether you use iPad just occasionally or you adopt it as a consistent learning and teaching tool, the reference card below will definitely give you a hand in improving your iPad use. I suggest that you share it with your students and go through it with them section by section and make sure they understand it before they start using their iPads again.
