An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

In the the morning of 29 May, 1892, the founder of the Baha'i faith, Bahá’u’lláh, passed away.‘The Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh’ is the commemoration of his passing. Bahá’ís throughout the world pay their respects with through selected Bahá’í Writings. According to the Baha'i Faith "any unredressed wrongs committed by a person against another in this life must be dealt with in the next. God’s justice may result in His keeping certain spiritual bounties from the soul of one who has hurt others while on earth ". There is no heaven and hell. Lolu Ncukana

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

I chose this because it shows the other side, the general opinion of orthodox people to the ideas of the Neturei Karta. Ask a Rabbi is a popualr forum where Rabbi's respond to questins regarding any aspect fo Judaism. They are mostyl Orthodox Rabbi's. Here he decribes how largely the Jewish peopel consider the Neturei Karta to be more like traitors who are risking the lvies of other Jewish people.

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

This is a podcast or radio show which reveals the perspective of a member of the Baha'i community (Glenn Darling). He shares how he embraced the Baha'i faith and we are also exposed to interviews of people who have also chosen the Baha'i faith. Something that I found very interesting when researching the Baha'i faith is something that was written by ‘Abdu’l-Baha, Baha’u’llah’s Son, where he explains that from one person to the next differences can be significant:

“For example, the eye and the nail are living; but the life of the nail in relation to the life of the eye is nonexistent. This stone and this man both exist; but the stone in relation to the existence of man is nonexistent….

“In the same way, the souls who are veiled from God, although they exist in this world and in the world after death, are, in comparison with the holy existence of the children of the Kingdom of God, nonexisting and separated from God."  __Lolu Ncukana

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

Someone commented on one of the Common Ground threads asking about heaven and hell and whether they are viable concepts. What happens to people who for instance didn't accept the Baha'i prophet's teachings? Baha’is believe that when a soul passes on to the next life, it is able to evaluate how its life on earth was lived. How you feel about your actions on Earth will depend on whether you go to heaven and hell. Heaven and hell can be described as emotions as opposed to actual places. Lolu Ncukana

But I am confident that God does not send anyone to heaven or hell solely because he is Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Baha'i or…… but rewards and punishes all based on their actions and behavior.
An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

Ayatollah Abdolhamid Masoumi Tehrani of the Baha'i Faith meets with a group of Iranians to talk about the the increasing number of deaths of Iranian followers of the Baha'i faith. He says that God does not send anyone to heaven or hell because of their religion but rewards and punishes everyone according to their behaviour or the way the act.

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

A well known Iranian Baha'i has been killed, however there is no focus on the fact that because he was a Baha'i follower,he will go to heaven because in the Baha'i faith "Heaven" represents the joy experienced by a soul that is spiritually close to God, while the torments of “hell” symbolise the suffering a soul endures when it is spiritually far from its Creator. Heaven and Hell are not seen as destinations in the afterlife, but the condition of the soul before and after death. Lolu Ncukana

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

It is quite interesting how the Baha’is believe that the traditional belief that Heaven and Hell are literal places is not true. They do not believe that Heaven and Hell are places we go to in the afterlife depending on our behaviour on earth. (Lolu)

Why The Return To Zion? The Jewish Connection To The Land of Israel

Why The Return To Zion? The Jewish Connection To The Land of Israel | Heaven & Hell according to the Baha'i Faith | Scoop.it
An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

I realised that although I have been showing the side of the Neturei Karta is may not be clear as to why the larger population of Jewish people would want there to be a state of Israel. This extract from a book written about Israel and the UN and how people percieve the current state of Israel. It explains how the Jewish people have always had a connection to the land and have lived there through the 18 centuries of exile but only recently have been allowed to establish a state.

The passing of Bahá'u'lláh

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

This video is about the passing away of Baha'u'llah of the Baha'i faith on the 29th of May 1892. Baha’u’llah made it clear that there are natural spiritual consequences for ignoring or breaking God’s laws while in this world even though these consequences may not be obvious on earth. According to Baha'u'llah, Divine Justice requires every individual to bear responsibility for his actions and there is no need for a physical hell.  Lolu Ncukana

Dear Christian, If You Believe There is a Hell | The Way Forward

Dear Christian, If You Believe There is a Hell | The Way Forward | Heaven & Hell according to the Baha'i Faith | Scoop.it
Do Christians REALLY believe there is a Hell? ... Can you talk about hell in anything but in an abstract, mumbling, feet-shuffling, roundabout way, which is probably quite unlike the way you would talk about heaven?
An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

There seems to be a few problems with the Christians view of hell, because it would mean that God created hell merely to punish people seeing that he is the creator of everything. That would mean that God created humans knowing most of them would end up in hell and be tortured by him for eternity. The Baha'i's have a completely different view, they believe that the soul will recognize how any refusal to follow God’s Teachings while on earth contributed  to a deterioration of its opportunities for self-development and that will punishment enough,as opposed to a burning furnace.

An Aperitif to Belief's insight:

A member of The Baha'i Forum mentions that he believes that hell can be "another world". He is later corrected by Baha'i scriptures that say if a person turns away from the Guidance of God’s Messengers and lives according to his own ideas and selfish desires he is already in hell and it doesn't necessarily have to be 'another world'.  Lolu Ncukana

Ataollah Rezvani, a well-known member of the Iranian Baha’i community has been killed.Even though the Baha'i faith was founded in Iran, it is banned by law in the Islamic republic.Baha’is believe that 'heaven' is determined by the degree to which a person tries to reflect the true Teachings revealed by God’s Prophets in his life. Ataollah's death is therefore an indication of him being in 'heaven'

This photographic narrative of Baha'u'llah,Founder of the Baha'i Faith exemplifies how the Baha’i Writings explain heaven and hell as symbolic representations of spiritual conditions of the soul whether the person is still alive or dead.
