Greg Klassen lives in Lynden, Washington with wife and three kids. He studied furniture design in Sweden, at the Capellagården School of Craft & Design, and has also a degree in theology. He is very inspired by the beauty of the woods around his home, and collaborates with a local sawmill which gives him access to a wide array of raw wood. He makes use of the natural forms and imperfections of the wood when he creates his tables. These organic landscapes are completed with “rivers” or “lakes” made using custom-cut panes of blue glass. He invites his clients to visit his workshop where they can be a part of his creative process. This also includes choosing the wood for their very own table.

DEMOCRACIA

DEMOCRACIA | Heart is a Lock, Music is the Key | Scoop.it
DEMOCRACIA Work team formed in Madrid (Spain) by Pablo España and Iván López. The decision to work as a group springs from the intention of engaging in an artistic practice centred on discussion and the clash of ideas and forms of action. The fact of working in a group in itself establishes an interest in intervening in the social sphere, by means of ideas of commitment to the real. The projects reflect a concern with the progressive setting of scenes of social life; visible, in the increasing importance of the image, and also in the gradual incorporation of the simulacrum in the different realms of daily life, such as politics, technology, and culture. Also Democracia works in publishing (they are directors of Nolens Volens magazine) and curatorial projects (No Futuro, Madrid Abierto 2008, Creador de Dueños, Useful Art). They were founders and part of El Perro group (1989-2006).

White Denim - Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) Fargo Soundtrack

"Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" is a counterculture era song written by Mickey Newbury. Said to reflect the LSD experience, the song was intended to be a warning against the danger of using LSD. First recorded on October 10, 1967 by Teddy Hill & the Southern Soul as a single on Rice Records (Rice 5028 b/w "Stagger Lee") and produced by Norro Wilson, Jerry Lee Lewis soon covered the song for his album Soul My Way. "Just Dropped In ..." was a hit for Kenny Rogers and the First Edition (with Kenny Rogers on lead vocals) in 1968. It was Rogers' first top ten hit in the Billboard charts, and got the group their first national TV audience on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. The song captures the short-lived psychedelic era of the late 1960s, and stands apart from the country folk harmonies that characterized most of the First Edition's catalog. The song features Rogers on lead vocals and was the group's second single from the band's eponymous album The First Edition. Producer Mike Post reversed a few riffs to create the intro, and the solo played by Glen Campbell was heavily compressed and used a tremolo effect to achieve its sound. Another studio guitarist, Mike Deasy, provided the acoustic lead guitar parts. When Rogers signed to United Artists Records in the mid-1970s after the group split, he re-recorded the track for his Ten Years of Gold album.

Don Hunstein

Don Hunstein  | Heart is a Lock, Music is the Key | Scoop.it
Don Hunstein’s iconic photographs have become symbols of an era. In the history of music photography, Don’s work during his 30 years at Columbia records is unsurpassed in its scope and breadth. Through his subtle humor and quiet nature, he was able to record many great moments in music history. He photographed the famous and the not so famous. Hundreds of album covers and behind the scenes work. His photographs documented a rare time when musicians spent time on their art, rather than their publicity. Don Hunstein grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended Washington University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in English. After college he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Fairford, England, and assigned a desk job. It was this assignment that allowed him to travel around Europe. He began photographing casually, taking pictures to send home to his family, and then with the help of a Leica M3 purchased in the PX, and inspired by a book of renowned street photographer Henri Cartier Bresson’s work, his hobby began to take him on a lifelong path. After a year in Fairford, Don was transferred to a base outside of London. There he joined a local camera club and took evening classes at London’s Central School of Art and Design, becoming influenced by the artists and designers whom he met there.

Spanish based artist duo, are recognized for their ability to ignite relationships between art, sculpture, architecture, space and social contexts. Their style adopts a focus which is both beautiful and performative, firm in its discussion and totally the perfect deconstruction of classic art and contemporary urban art, in order to create a new fusion, which whilst faithful to its classic heritage, creates a new and exciting vision of art. PichiAvo are one since 2007, fleeing from the self-centeredness of graffiti, united to create a single piece of work, reciting a conceptually urban poetry, born from the artistic formalism of the street, transferring fragments of a wall to the canvas and from the canvas to the wall in a personal version.

Johnny B. Goode - Back to the Future

Back to the Future is a 1985 American science-fiction adventure comedy film[5] directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly, who is sent back in time to 1955, where he meets his future parents in high school and accidentally becomes his mother's romantic interest. Christopher Lloyd portrays the eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, Marty's friend who helps him repair the damage to history by helping Marty cause his parents to fall in love. Marty and Doc must also find a way to return Marty to 1985.
n so many ways the moment Marty cracked out Berry’s track was of huge significance to the film, not least because it was the moment Marty introduced the future to the past.

Charles Edward Anderson "Chuck" Berry (October 18, 1926 – March 18, 2017) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. With songs such as "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957) and "Johnny B. Goode" (1958), Berry refined and developed rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive. Writing lyrics that focused on teen life and consumerism, and developing a music style that included guitar solos and showmanship, Berry was a major influence on subsequent rock music.

Blake McFarland

Blake McFarland  | Heart is a Lock, Music is the Key | Scoop.it

Recycled materials artist Blake McFarland uses recycled rubber tires to create amazing life-like sculptures of tire animals. Each Sculpture uses strategically placed tires which are woven and secured, creating amazing muscle-like definition of the animals. Each recycled tire sculpture takes around one month to complete and has amazingly detailed features. Blake McFarland loves being able to be eco-friendly by using 100% recycled tires to make his distinctive tire sculpture art. To see the animals in person is a true visual experience but until then check them out on the tire sculptures page. Blake Also uses 100% recycled natural wine corks to create mural pictures of amazingly detailed pictures or words. Blake uses between 200 to 4,000 wine corks in each of Picture. They have a very natural and sophisticated feel to them that look great in any setting. Blake began his art career painting ocean scenery with acrylics. After a couple of years he longed for something more unique. Blake combined one of his passions, surfing, with art by painting local Bay Area scenes on surfboards. To expand his artistic resume he also crafted aged wine barrels into wine and glass racks. Inspired by the current “green movement”, it was not until 2013 he finally found his calling in tire sculptures. These tire sculptures are by far the most detailed oriented and fondest art pieces he has ever created. It takes over a month to create one sculpture due to the amount of detail put into each piece. Blake loves the fact that tire sculpture art is not only visually appealing, but also eco-friendly. Each tire is 100% recycled and would be sitting in a landfill if not for this specific art. Blake portrays the animal’s muscle structure and fur using tires with different treads and widths. It is safe to say that Blake has finally found his niche in art, one in which he is extremely passionate about and is looking forward to what the future brings.
