Homes in Texas built to meet green building standards are worth an average of $25,000 more in resale value than other homes. The study looked at more than 3,800 green-certified homes built in Texas between 2008 and 2016 to determine if certification raised the resale value of homes.

It makes sense that healthy efficient sustainable buildings get a premium on resale but this is an impressive 6-7% premium for green homes in Texas.

Volvo Car Group announced last week that in 2019, every model rolling off the automakers’ assembly line will, at a minimum, be partly powered by an electric battery system.

Volvo's announcement to move to 100% electric cars will put serious pressure on the Tesla Corp since Volvo already has the ability and customer base to mass produce automobiles worldwide. Tesla CEO Mr Musk welcomed the competition and I am glad Volvo made the move for 2019

The Chicago market claimed the top spot with 66 percent of its space qualified as green certified according to the fourth annual Green Building Adoption Index study by CBRE and Maastricht University.

This is a massive achievement for my hometown of Chicago and it should be celebrated as a very impressive achievement in commercial real estate. It's success was partly due to Chicago's benchmarking efforts. It is time to move the benchmarking to the residential housing market and be equally as successful.
