16 More Reasons Black Seed Is 'The Remedy For Everything But Death'

16 More Reasons Black Seed Is 'The Remedy For Everything But Death' | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it
Known since ancient times as a 'remedy for everything but death,' an increasingly vast body of scientific research reveals that it is indeed one of nature's most potent and versatile healing agents.

A year ago, we wrote an article about nigella sativa (aka black seed) titled, 'The Remedy For Everything But Death.' It described the research on the many ways in which black seed (nigella sativa) is a potentially life-saving medicinal food, and is one of our most popular articles, with over 225K social media shares.

Opening with, "This humble, but immensely powerful seed, kills MRSA, heals the chemical weapon poisoned body, stimulates regeneration of the dying beta cells within the diabetic's pancreas, and yet too few even know it exists," the article summarized the peer-reviewed and published research on 10 of the seed's remarkable health benefits:

Imagine that too:  An experiment on 35 opiate addicts found that black seed is an effective therapy in long-term treatment of dependence!

"There are currently no regulations for nanoparticle exposure. Differences in composition or quantity of nanoparticles can result in dramatic differences in toxicity. We are just beginning to understand how nanoparticles affect exposed tissues," said Andreescu, a professor of chemistry. "The results of this study will begin to provide an understanding of how nanoparticles interact with organ systems and ultimately affect our short- and long-term health."

Rapid Plankton Decline Puts The Ocean’s Food Web In Peril

Rapid Plankton Decline Puts The Ocean’s Food Web In Peril | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it

The microscopic sea creatures form the foundation of marine food systems, and their decline is likely due to global warming.

The dramatic decline happened in the North Atlantic in first half of this year, scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) told the AP. It also coincided with sea surface temperatures from the mid-Atlantic to the Gulf of Maine that were the third-warmest on record, after an all-time high in 2012. Further south in the Atlantic there was more cooling, but overall warming throughout the oceans remains on a steady upward trend.

I didn't know but here it is:  Phytoplankton accounts for roughly half the organic matter produced on Earth, produce half the oxygen in the atmosphere, draw carbon dioxide out of the air, and serve as the foundational food source for most of the oceans’ food webs.

Can Water Cure Disease?

Can Water Cure Disease? | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it

Can water cure disease?

Throughout history and across all cultures, there are stories of water that can heal. We have identified a possible basis.

Through a decade of research at the University of Washington, we have uncovered evidence for a fourth phase of water, beyond the commonly known solid, liquid, and vapor. This fourth phase could be the root of water’s purported healing properties.

Many drinking waters contain some fourth-phase water. Those with the most may produce the most health benefits. Testing this hypothesis constitutes a major thrust of this scientific effort. We will evaluate the benefits of pure fourth-phase water (produced by the filterless filter), as well as various other waters deemed likely to have health benefits.

We are seeing some mainstream scientific research here that has the potential of reducing our dependency on pharmaceutical (chemical) medicine.

Something that's well worth supporting, I would say.

If you want to dig deeper, there is a series of videos on a presentation Pollack gave at the Electric Universe conference about his discovery of electrically structured water...

Journal retraction of Séralini study is illicit, unscientific, and unethical.
Hayes’ decision to retract the paper follows FCT’s appointment of Richard E. Goodman, a former Monsanto scientist and an affiliate of the GMO industry-funded group, the International Life Sciences Institute, to the specially created post of associate editor for biotechnology at the journal, early this year.[10]
Goodman’s appointment in turn followed an orchestrated campaign by GMO supporters to persuade FCT to retract the study. Some critics even accused Prof Séralini of fraud, without presenting any evidence. Many of the critics had undeclared conflicts of interest with the GMO industry.

If it is true that when deciding whether to allow a genetically engineered crop onto the market, the Department of Agriculture and other regulatory agencies do not perform their own experiments on the performance and safety of the crop, then we should make it their business, starting now!

Alison D. Gilbert's curator insight, November 30, 2013 7:50 PM

Now that's an easy one to answer. The companies creating GMOs are too busy patting themselves on the back and rewarding themselves for the inventions. They don't have the ethics required to take a real, hard and serious look at themselves to see the danger and disastrous consequences of what they are creating.

And if you don't want to mess around with potting, watering, and caring for your plants, you can choose from a variety of small hydroponic growing kits that seem to get crowdfunded regularly on KickStarter and IndieGoGo these days.

Printing the Human Body: How It Works and Where It Is Headed

Printing the Human Body: How It Works and Where It Is Headed | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it

The rise of 3D printing has introduced one of the most ground-breaking technological feats happening right now. The most exciting part, though, doesn't have anything to do with printing electronics or fancy furniture, but in producing human tissues, otherwise known as bioprinting. While it is still in its infancy, the future of bioprinting looks very bright and will eventually result in some major advances for society, whilst also saving billions for the economy this is spent on research and development.

I can't see this saving money - but it will save lives. The technology to print exists. It is the question of how to develop stem cells into tissue types and then how to link these with the bodies complex control systems (nervous, circulatory and immune). in the best case scenario a grown organ will be recognised as self and the body systems will grow into them. However, organs are not toasters. Researchers are concentrating on easy things like skin grafts and ears at present, but like nano electronics, the future is full of potential and questions.

Such astonishingly wonderful ways to use the new 3D printing technology.

Project ranks billions of drug interactions

Project ranks billions of drug interactions | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it

For decades, drug development was mostly a game of trial and error, with brute-force candidate screens throwing up millions more duds than winners. Researchers are now using computers to get a head start. By analysing the chemical structure of a drug, they can see if it is likely to bind to, or ‘dock’ with, a biological target such as a protein. Such algorithms are particularly useful for finding potentially toxic side effects that may come from unintended dockings to structurally similar, but untargeted, proteins.

Last week, researchers presented a computational effort that assesses billions of potential dockings on the basis of drug and protein information held in public databases. The result, a website called Drugable (drugable.com) that is backed by the US National Library of Medicine (NLM), is still in testing, but it will eventually be available for free, allowing researchers to predict how and where a compound might work in the body, purely on the basis of chemical structure

What to Eat (and When) Before Working Out

What to Eat (and When) Before Working Out | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it
When it comes to working out, it's important to feel energized, but it's not always as simple as grabbing a snack on your way out the door. Eating too close to exercise is a recipe for discomfort, but heading to the gym hungry isn't ideal either.

I like her suggestions, somewhat modified:  a small serving of lean protein with veggies, hummus, fruit or nuts, and a small serving of yogurt (without sugar).

Why we don't eat beef for Thanksgiving

Why we don't eat beef for Thanksgiving | Healthy Recipes and Tips for Healthy Living | Scoop.it

Cultures throughout history have slaughtered animals at certain times of year, and many of our traditional holiday meals—think Thanksgiving turkey and Easter ham—came from this practice. Steak also was once an autumn delicacy: After the first frost, ranchers would flood the market with steers fattened on summer's pastures. But that changed after World War II, when farmers—buoyed by a large new trove of government-subsidized corn and soy—found profit in confining cattle and selling meat year-round, and most turned to "finishing" cattle on grain, breaking beef's tie to growth cycles.
