An electronic exchange that allows emergency room doctors at different hospitals in the tri-county region to share patient information saved more than $1 million in unnecessary admissions and redundant procedures over 12 months, a 2013 study shows.
Robert LaPorte's insight:

$1 million in identified savings for a 250k cost to run over 12 months is better than a good ROI.  But as they point out, the costs are borne by the providers, savings accrue to payers.  Would love to be a fly on the wall for the meeting on the 23rd...
