Food is necessary for life. Thinking about food in different way opens us up to becoming mindful of our daily actions in regard to using the food to avoid waste. According to this article, North Americans waste about 14% of food purchases and the average family throws out about over $600 of fruit each year.

 

Plan ahead to use the fruit and vegetables your purchase within a week of shopping at the latest. Use a fruit bowl so your children/other family members will see the fruit in plain view to grab it and eat it. Serve vegetables with every meal. Planning saves waste.
