Top Activities To do in San Diego, California

San Diego's coastal seat makes it a great destination for adventurers. Whether you are hiking over the sandstone cliffs of Torrey Pines State Reserve or walking through the frothy surf of Coronado Beach, you'll locate little reason to wander far from the natural wonders in the city. Spend a day at Balboa Park -- the definitive culturual hub in the city -- and soak up the spectacular setting while exploring the numerous museums, gardens and theatres that call this 1,200-acre park residence. Though it's tempting to spend your whole holiday exploring, do not forget to carve out some time for a San Diego history lesson: America's Finest City proudly shows off its military and marine heritage with two well-seen (and highly interactive) museums.
While a day in the beach is almost obligatory here, fun things you can do in San Diego additionally contain visiting the world-famous zoo, hiking Torrey Pines State Reserve, and meandering through sensory pleasing farmers markets in virtually every area. San Diego amusement parks also abound, including the oceanfront rides at Belmont Park in Mission Beach to LEGOLAND in North County. Cap off any day with dinner at La Jolla Shores in a sunset cocktail or the Gaslamp District. You will find that San Diego has actions up its sleeve for all kinds of visitors.

UAB biomarker outperforms current gold standard to detect brain shunt infections

UAB biomarker outperforms current gold standard to detect brain shunt infections | Health Food and Beer | Scoop.it
In a study of children with brain shunts, a University of Alabama at Birmingham investigational biomarker outperformed the current 'gold standard' test for detecting bacterial infections in the shunts. The biomarker has already shown the ability to distinguish viral meningitis from bacterial meningitis. Both applications are valuable because patients with viral meningitis usually get better in several weeks, while bacterial meningitis can kill within hours, and bacterial shunt infections are also potentially life-threatening.
